After two abortions as a young teenager, Janice became a weekend user of alcohol and drugs, not realizing that the abortions drove her to self-medication. Her daughter was born prematurely, and she heard the enemy say that it was her fault because of her abortions. When she got pregnant again, she sought an abortion again because her heart was so hard. God stopped her from going through with it, but she was very detached from her baby during pregnancy and after he was born. When he was two years old, she returned to church. God started to pull on her heart and heal her.

Janice started dating at fourteen. Dating consisted of sex. She got pregnant and parented her baby. However, she started dating the father of her baby again and got pregnant again three months later. She knew nothing about abortion but felt like it was a way out of the pregnancy. She went to the Planned Parenthood at age fifteen and had a surgical abortion without parental permission or supervision. She left the clinic alone and rode the bus home. She got pregnant the following year and had a saline abortion, without her parents' knowledge. "I was really messed up".
