Psalms: The Songs of Ascents

In this episode, we'll be looking at the psalms of ascents, those songs which were prescribed to be sung by Israel as they travelled up towards Jerusalem for the major feasts of the Jewish calendar.

Psalms: Hallel

In this episode, we'll look at the Hallel, the songs of praise to Yahweh. Together we'll read these songs of corporate worship to Yahweh, sung by the people of Israel during pilgrimages or feasts, times of remembrance and reflection all to the glory of God.

Psalms: Historical (Remember)

In this episode, we'll look at a historical psalm which reminds Israel of their covenant with Yahweh, who He is and who they are. We are reminded to remember the faithfulness of Yahweh and assured that he remembers, though humans often forget.

Psalms: Cries for Justice

In this episode, we'll look at psalms that cry to God for justice and judgement. In our outrage and indignation, we must do as the psalmists do: cry to God and leave all retribution to him.

Psalms: Darkness

In this episode, we'll look at a unique psalm that does not have a resolution for the despair and anguish of the psalmist, teaching us that in times of great darkness, there may not be a resolution yet, but our despair and turmoil can and should still be directed towards God.
