Metaverse : A New Beginning - Part 1

You might have heard the word Metaverse being tossed around quite frequently. Facebook has changed its name to Meta, because they're creating the Metaverse. But a lot of people don't know what it actually means. In the first part of this 2 part series, we discuss what the Metaverse is, and how it holds the potential to change the lives of people, in good ways and bad. This will have a significant impact on everyone's life, and today we discuss how that'll happen.

Episode 8 : Google, Samsung shake the tech scene! Flip mobiles make a return!

In the newest episode of the Point Tech Podcast, we cover a LOT of tech news. Google recently announced the Pixel 6 and gave us a sneak peak of the brains of the operation : Tensor. We compare this Tensor chip to the newer chipsets by Qualcomm and Google and discuss what this means for Google in the smartphone market! Unreal Engine 5 gave us some shocking samples that were gorgeous to look at, so we dive deeper into the specific features of this engine and look at how games have changed from being pixelated to looking like you're actually in that world. It was inevitable to talk about the new "revolutionary" foldable phones by Samsung. We discuss the new feature it brings to the foldable phone market, but at the same time, also discuss if it still would be a good choice to get a foldable phone, especially after the tech has had time to improve. InfoSnips are back, and we have a lot of them in this episode! We talk about the TeslaBot, some new things Samsung announced alongside it's new foldable phones, and also discuss a new Windows 11 feature that is... actually quite useful!

Episode 7: Windows 365, A Nintendo Switch Competitor and Netflix Games?

We're back! The 7th episode of the Point Tech Podcast goes in depth with topics like Windows 365, a cloud PC you can access from anywhere with an internet connection, and whether or not it's actually worth subscribing to. Netflix recently announced that they're going to be investing into gaming and adding it to it's library in a couple of years, with no additional costs. We compare it with other cloud gaming services out there, and how this, could be the push cloud gaming needs, to finally be actually useful. There's been leaks of a new iPad mini, which is practically a computer now. We discuss those leaks and also look at the future of tablet devices in general. Valve announced the Steam Deck, and it stirred the gaming market up. We discuss about some of it's features and also look at the PS5 and the Switch and how it compares to those consoles. Lastly, Samsung finally gave us official dates for the event for the launch of it's next generation of Foldable Devices, and it seems like quite a few of the leaks were... correct. Episode 6 : The Sony Xperia 1 iii - Why it won't sell!

This week's episode of the Point Tech Podcast was a little different. We tried to give context to the numbers in a spec sheet that we spoke about, so that the message we're trying to convey with those numbers becomes easy to understand. We spoke about the new Nintendo Switch OLED edition, and how even though it's getting a lot of hate, it isn't that bad of a device. The highlight of this week's episode was the Sony Xperia 1 iii, where we spoke about the specifications of the phone, but with a different twist to it. And last, but not the least, everyone's favorite segment, InfoSnips had the Google Antitrust case and the Virtual RAM that has been released by Xiaomi and Vivo by a software update.
