In 1997, Whitney Houston brought Brandy to tv screens across America as the first Black Disney princess in Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella. It was a fairytale for all in more than just rhetoric, but in practice. The tv film utilized colourlind casting to create a world where anyone could see themselves in any role; a fairytale land where we were all allowed a happy ending and a chance at the impossible. This week Tanagra talks Netflix's latest BL acquisition and their first Phillipine BL acquisition, Gameboys: Level-Up Edition! Originally a web series, the show follows the love story of gaming streamer Cairo and his fan-turned-suitor Gavreel. The young actors and passionate production team created a story that captured a modern day internet romance during Covid.
