Joined by her support worker, Loren, Tegan shared her artistic journey and the success of her growing art business. Tegan, a long-time participant in Focal’s programs, described her love for art, cooking, and social activities. “I enjoy meeting new people and creating art,” she said, highlighting the joy she finds in her creative process. Her artwork, ranging from paintings and scrapbooking to custom-designed cups, keychains, and canvases, has been showcased at local markets, including the Handmade Expo in Ipswich. “It was great to see so many people appreciate my work,” Tegan said. Loren, who played a pivotal role in helping Tegan realise her potential, shared how the journey began. “I saw how much effort Tegan put into her art and knew people would love it. After some encouragement, she decided to give the markets a go,” she said. Loren emphasised the importance of advocacy in supporting individuals with disabilities. “Having someone believe in you can open up so many opportunities,” she added. The duo’s efforts have not only brought Tegan’s art to the community but also helped her grow socially and develop new skills. Tegan’s next goal is to start accepting commissioned work. Listeners can follow her progress and view her creations on her Facebook [https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61564333514977] and Instagram [https://www.instagram.com/tegansartgallery/] pages. Ipswich Kicks Off 2025: Tivoli Celebrations, Safe City Milestone, and Ripley Road Updates

[https://i0.wp.com/westbremerradio.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Teresa-Harding.jpg?resize=150%2C150&ssl=1] The new year in Ipswich is off to a vibrant start with community celebrations, major infrastructure developments, and a nod to public safety. Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding reflected on the recent Tivoli Drive-In New Year’s Eve Festival, which drew a record-breaking 7,000 attendees. “It’s fantastic to see so many families enjoying themselves at events like this,” said Mayor Harding, commending Pastor Fred Muys and his team for organising the successful celebration. The city also celebrated 30 years of its Safe City camera network. Launched in 1993, the program has expanded from a few cameras to over 360 across 15 suburbs. The system provides 24/7 surveillance, funded by Ipswich ratepayers, and plays a critical role in deterring crime and supporting Queensland Police. “Safe City is a deterrent and a lifeline,” said Mayor Harding, noting the program handles over 5,000 incidents annually. In infrastructure news, Ipswich City Council awarded a construction contract for the Ripley Road and Fischer Road upgrades. The project will address the needs of the rapidly growing Ripley Valley region, with 22,000 vehicles currently using the route daily. A $24 million low-interest loan from Economic Development Queensland will fund the project, with the first stage expected to be completed by late 2027. Lastly, Mayor Harding urged local artists to participate in the 2025 SPARK Ipswich Festival. Expressions of interest are open for the festival’s delight program, which will transform the Tulma Walk facade into a luminous canvas. Selected artists will receive a $1,000 commission. The festival, running from July 11 to 20, celebrates the city’s vibrant arts and cultural scene. “2025 promises to be an exciting year for Ipswich,” said Mayor Harding. “From community celebrations to innovative projects, we’re ready for a dynamic year ahead.” [https://i0.wp.com/westbremerradio.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Teresa-Harding.jpg?resize=300%2C200&ssl=1] The post Ipswich Kicks Off 2025: Tivoli Celebrations, Safe City Milestone, and Ripley Road Updates [https://westbremerradio.com/ipswich-kicks-off-2025-tivoli-celebrations-safe-city-milestone-and-ripley-road-updates/] appeared first on West Bremer Radio [https://westbremerradio.com].

[https://i0.wp.com/westbremerradio.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/469403641_978281101000226_6588405293080852828_n-1.jpg?resize=150%2C150&ssl=1] Tursa Employment and Training is making waves in the Ipswich community, providing free employment and training support to individuals with disabilities and NDIS participants. Featured on the All Ability Hour on West Bremer Radio, Tursa representative Martin highlighted the organisation’s 30-year legacy of empowering individuals across southeast Queensland and northern New South Wales. “We’re here to enhance what participants receive through the NDIS, but we operate outside of their funding, offering our services completely free of charge,” Martin explained. PERSONALIZED EMPLOYMENT PATHWAYS Tursa works closely with clients to assess abilities, set goals, and identify tailored pathways into the workforce. With connections across various industries, including hospitality, administration, and creative arts, the organization offers practical solutions to match clients with roles that align with their aspirations. A key feature of Tursa’s program is its ongoing support. “We provide up to 52 weeks of post-placement support for both the participant and the employer,” Martin said, ensuring long-term success in the workplace. COLLABORATION WITH THE COMMUNITY Tursa also collaborates with support coordinators and community groups to streamline access to its services. Patti, co-host of the All Ability Hour, highlighted the value of Tursa’s approach: “It’s so important for participants to see what’s possible and to connect with supportive employers who understand their abilities.” CELEBRATING SUCCESS Martin shared a heartwarming story of a client passionate about dance. By securing a reception role at a dance studio, Tursa enabled her to work in a space that inspired her. “The disability became an ability,” Martin emphasised, reflecting the organisation’s mission. Employers and participants can learn more or register interest at Tursa’s Website [https://www.tursa.com.au/] “When everyone works together, we achieve sustainable employment and life-changing outcomes,” Martin said. Tune into the All Ability Hour next Saturday for more inspiring stories from the Ipswich community.
