Podimo is looking for a Legal Counsel to join our developing legal team, to be based in either our Copenhagen, Amsterdam or Berlin office. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and approachable lawyer, with communication skills as strong as their technical abilities. Founded in Copenhagen in 2019, Podimo is the definitive platform for podcast & audiobook lovers – and for audio content creators. Our intuitive app puts a world of podcasts & audiobooks at listeners’ fingertips, and our revenue share model means that creators are rewarded for making content that people want to hear – whether they have an established following or a niche audience. We’re currently active in four European markets (Denmark, Norway, Germany and Spain) but watch this space: we’re expanding fast.
Your main focus will be to draft, review and negotiate EMEA-wide commercial contracts, with a particular focus on content licensing and production agreements but also business development, vendor, agency and advertising relationships.
In addition, you will support and assist with:
template and process development;
reviewing EMEA-wide marketing and other public-facing materials and creating/maintaining user-facing terms and conditions for new and existing products and services;
drafting (from existing templates) employment agreements and liaising with external counsel in connection with employment related matters;
identifying and actioning legal elements of new-market entry; and
liaising with external counsel where appropriate.
Above all, you will:
be an engaged and trusted business partner and ensure the provision of timely business-focused advice / support; and
work closely with the legal and other local and global internal teams - particularly Content, Creator Relations, Finance, Growth and Marketing/Comms.
to be a qualified lawyer with at least 3+ years at a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal team (varied commercial background and/or IP experience a plus);
a strong academic background, with a law degree / LL.M.
excellent drafting and negotiation skills;
an ability to provide practical, actionable legal advice and support in a manner that non-lawyers can understand;
an ability to work independently, decisively and to balance competing priorities according to business need;
fluency in written and spoken English (additional languages always welcome)
