Beyond the Grade
In this episode of Beyond the Grade, Andrew Hammond is joined by oracy specialist, Georgie Ross, to discuss why communication skills are more important than ever for young people preparing for life beyond school. Together they discuss how strong communication underpins everything from building confidence and expressing ideas, to wellbeing and navigating the modern job market. The conversation looks at how we maintain meaningful human connection in an increasingly digital world and how human skills like conversation, creativity and problem-solving sit at the heart of success as they’re the very skills technology cannot replace. They discuss how communication is fundamental to wellbeing and that creating time and space for young people to share their feelings and experiences plays a vital role in helping them feel heard, understood and supported. Georgie also shares practical tips on how schools and families can nurture these essential skills, highlighting the importance of creating inclusive spaces where all voices can be heard.
