Dalia Mogahed is an American-Egyptian scholar, author, and expert on Muslim communities. She serves as the Director of Research at the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding (ISPU). Born in Cairo and raised in the US, she earned a BS in chemical engineering and a minor in Arabic from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She then worked at Procter & Gamble before completing her MBA at the University of Pittsburgh. At ISPU, Mogahed leads surveys and studies on American Muslims and advises government and media on related policy. From 2006 to 2012, she directed the Gallup Center for Muslim Studies and helped establish the Abu Dhabi Gallup branch. In 2009, President Obama appointed her to the White House Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. She also testified before the U.S. Senate on engagement with Muslim communities. Dalia Mogahed co-authored *Who Speaks for Islam? What a Billion Muslims Really Think*, based on over 50,000 interviews worldwide. Her 2016 TED talk was one of that year’s top talks. She also leads her own consulting firm focused on Muslim societies. Her work promotes understanding, empathy, and informed dialogue across faith and cultural divides.
