About From Inside The House

From Inside the House Podcast dives into key characters’ stories, & the traumas they reflect, from the Possessed, the Vengeful, the Grief-stricken, the Hysterical, & the Objectified. By exploring these portrayals, we aim to spotlight how horror can mirror real-life societal fears for women. Host, Mo Moshaty, is a writer, award-winning producer, and journalist in the horror genre. As a behavioral specialist she has lectured internationally at academic institutions on horror cinema and literature. Mo is also the founder of NightTide Magazine & Mourning Manor Media.

From Inside the House - S3 - Ep 3: Nina Sayers

Episode Description - Host: Mo Moshaty Conditioned from childhood to equate worth with flawlessness, a professional dancer enters adulthood without autonomy or psychological flexibility. Under chronic stress and emotional enmeshment, her sense of self begins to fragment. Dissociation and hallucination emerge as maladaptive coping strategies rather than sudden pathology. The resulting breakdown is not accidental, but structurally engineered by her environment. A case study in perfectionism as trauma. This is the story of Nina Sayers, and the call for lack of agency, dependency, and arrested development is coming from inside the house. Film Discussed: Black Swan (2010), Darren Aronofsky Show Description - Possessed. Vengeful. Grief-stricken. Hysterical. Objectified. Horror loves putting women in boxes, then setting those boxes on fire. But those roles? They’re not just scary stories. They reflect what the world expects from us, fears about us, and too often, what it does to us. I’m Mo Moshaty, and this is where we dig into the trauma behind the tropes, why these stories hit so hard, and what they say about the world outside the screen. Welcome to From Inside the House. From Inside the House - S3 - Ep 2: Aisha

Episode Description - Host: Mo Moshaty An immigrant caretaker in Manhattan spends her days tending to another family’s child while saving to reunite with her own, a life suspended between sacrifice and longing. As nights fill with water and dreams begin to speak in older tongues, her carefully built composure starts to unravel. What she thought was exhaustion becomes something far older: a summoning of grief, ancestry, and the self she left behind. When the ocean answers, it doesn’t offer rescue, only remembrance. This is the story of Aisha and the call of identity, distance, and survival is coming from inside the house. Film discussed: Nanny (2022), Nikyatu Jusu Show Description - Possessed. Vengeful. From Inside the House - S3 - Ep 1: Thana

Episode Description - Host: Mo Moshaty A mute seamstress in New York’s garment district endures two brutal assaults in a single day, acts that fracture her sense of safety, identity, and control. What begins as self-defense transforms into ritual, and vengeance becomes the only language she can speak in a world that refuses to hear her. From Inside the House - S2 - Episode 3: Estrella

Episode Description - Host: Mo Moshaty, Guest: Wi-Moto Nyoka [https://www.wi-motonyoka.com/] A young girl navigating a city shattered by cartel violence carries both the weight of her mother’s disappearance and a trio of supernatural wishes that blur the line between protection and punishment. Caught between childhood and survival, she moves through the ruins with quiet resilience, haunted, literally and figuratively, by what has been taken from her. Her fear doesn’t weaken her; it sharpens her instincts, turning grief into something almost mythic. This is the story of Estrella, and the call for loss, abandonment, and haunting is coming from inside the house. Film discussed:(Vuelven) Tigers Are Not Afraid by Issa Lopez Show Description - Possessed. Vengeful. Grief-stricken. Hysterical. Objectified.
