22: Why do we wait until we have a terminal illness to live?

I have seen this narrative so many damn times: the person comes into the ER with nagging symptoms. Tests reveal the worst case scenario: cancer. At this moment, and the several moments following, people begin to look at their lives as it flashes before their eyes. Suddenly, people are faced with all of the decisions and lifestyle they have been living. Suddenly, people realize how precious, rare, and tender being a human being really is! We are all guilty of this at some point in our lives; we are all guilty of taking for granted our humanness and opportunity that we have to just exist. Instead, we hop on the hamster wheel of money, fame, success, proving ourselves, societal pressures, and so on as the list could go on for miles. Learn now to look at your life and the fragility that it holds. Learn now to take control and be the driver in your life, not the passenger. Don’t wait until you or a loved one is struck with a terminal illness to realize this!

20: Post vacation blues, feeling emotional, and making space.

Episode 20..... WOW! I have low energy today. I am feeling tired and worn out. I did not have the spark to produce uplifting content. BUT I did still show up for you and for me. Be real. Be raw. Showing up on the hard days is important for me. I am wanting to show real emotion and include the difficult days that feel like failure. The WHOLE human experience. 17: Living in FEAR | Living true to YOU and not SOCIETAL norms.

In this episode, Colton discusses living a life that is true to your most authentic self. Society (parents, friends, family, educators, pastors, ANYONE) pressures us to believe that we HAVE to live a certain way in order to live a successful life. I am here to tell you that this is a FEAR-based mindset and coming from a place of SCARCITY. You do not HAVE to go to college at 18, but you CAN if that is what is right for you. You do not HAVE to get married, but you CAN if that feels right for you. You do not HAVE to work 9-5, Monday through Friday, but you CAN if that is best for you! You CAN backpack Europe for 6 months if that is what you desire, but you DO not have to ever travel if that is what feels right for YOU. Do you get the concept here? This life is YOURS. This life is not THEIRS. We are all compiled of our own experiences, wants, perspectives, and desires to live this life that fulfills our highest desires.

EP 13: Running the Boston Marathon | My journey start to finish!
