Rejoice in the Lord! (Philippians 4:1-13)

What does it look like to rejoice in the Lord always? Paul's exhortations in Philippians 4 help us see. Philippians 4 calls us to lead a vigilant life (v1-3), a radical life (v4-9), the result of the work of God’s Spirit, and a contented life (v10-13). Perseverance (Philippians 3:10-21)

How do we persevere in the Christian life? Press on in the grace of God (v10-16), watch out for false teaching (v17-19), and look up at the Christian hope (v20-21). Humility (Philippians 2:1-18)

Christians are to imitate Christ, and Philippians 2 helps us see what that looks like. Philippians 2 instructs Christians to be united (v1-2) and humble (v3-4). It talks of two journeys: from the glory of heaven to the cross of Calvary (v6-8), and from the grave to the place of highest exaltation (v9-11). It offers two applications: work out your salvation (v12-13), and shine like stars (v14-18). This is the second of four Bible ministry messages given at Rising Lights (6-10 April, 2026). Invincible Joy (Philippians 1:12-30)

Although he is chained in prison, Paul has an invincible joy. In Philippians 1, he explains exactly why. In Philippians 1 we see that Paul is totally committed to the gospel of God (v12-18), totally convinced of the provision of God (v18-20), and totally captivated by the Son of God (v21-26).
