About THE BASICS PODCAST

A resource for Marines at The Basic School. The mission of The Basic School is to train and educate newly commissioned or appointed officers in the high standards of professional knowledge, esprit-de-corps, and leadership to prepare them for duty as company grade officers in the operating forces, with particular emphasis on the duties, responsibilities, and warfighting skills required of a rifle platoon commander. This podcast will provide insight into the basic officer course and various other subject matters relevant to the TBS experience.

This episode includes a conversational overview of the TBS mission, the teaching and training methodology, the methods of instruction and learning, the contents, and what to expect from each of the four phases of the period of instruction, the 5 horizontal themes, the instructor and staff make-up, the graded event categories and the MOODLE learning management system. Consider this episode as a primer for what you can expect from the 6 month TBS experience.
