Hugh brings forward the current situation regarding UK cinemas following the latest delay of No Time to Die, the potential move to streaming and how cinemas need to rethink their business plans when they re-open again. episode Host Rules 01 (ft. Iain Boulton) artwork

Host Rules 01 (ft. Iain Boulton)

This episode was broadcast live on Twitch on Tuesday 8th September 2020. It's the first edition of our Host Rules format and that means things run slightly differently on The Big Stomp. A special guest host takes control and picks the topics to discuss how they see fit. Three panellists are on hand to make sense of the stories and topics that the host bring up for insightful geeky debate. Bunkazilla founder and channel manager, Iain Boulton, is in the hot seat for the first outing. He's joined first by Charlotte Brown, the host of This Door is Locked. Secondly by Harriett Greene, YouTuber and Bunkazilla contributor. And finally by The Big Stomp's Andrew Watton-Davies, who will be a guest on Host Rules episodes. Topics this first Host Rules episode include remembering the late Chadwick Boseman, discussing the current box office gross for Tenet, Fall Guy's overloaded server launch, next-gen consoles and the WWE's issue with Superstars using Twitch. ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast. episode August 2020 artwork

August 2020

This episode was recorded live on 27th August 2020 - broadcast live on Twitch. The Raggedyman is joined by Claire Blackshaw, a new guest to the show who is a streamer, dreamer, code engineer and games philosopher. The multi-podcast host Hugh K. David and fellow Bunkazilla contributor Lizzie Barnes are also on hand for this episode. As always, each guest brings a pop or geek culture themed topic to dissect and discuss. Hugh begins the discussion by looking at Disney's plans to release their big-budget live-action adaptation of Mulan straight to Disney+ in the wake of COVID-19 and a restrictive worldwide cinema launch strategy. Is Mulan a film people would be happy to pay extra for - on top of their current Disney+ subscription? With Facebook starting to take the ownership reigns of Oculus, the second topic provided by Claire brings attention to the potentially worrying raft of changes Facebook have already begun to implement on current and prospective Oculus VR users. Finally, Lizzie takes a look at positive representations of disability in the geek culture sphere with the use of Doom Patrol's Rita Farr. Lizzie also sheds light on some the positive ways disabilities are being represented in worlds such as Dungeons & Dragons and cosplay. ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast. episode June 2020 artwork

June 2020

Another trio of guests join Andrew Watton-Davies for a look at the big stories in the world of geek and pop culture in June 2020. This episode's guests include podcaster and film reviewer Leslie Pitt, the wonderfully creative Nathan Blades and fellow Bunkazilla contributor Lizzie Barnes. As always, each guest brings a pop or geek culture themed topic to dissect and discuss. Leslie talks about the life and career of Joel Schumacher, who sadly passed away in June. Infamously remembered for one Batman film but forgotten for a healthy body of cinematic titles like The Lost Boys, Flatliners and Tigerland. Lizzie focuses her topic on how fans are trying to cope with the occasional problematic view of popular creators - highlighting the recent events surrounding J.K. Rowling. Finally, Nathan sheds light on the amazing fundraising by itch.io who raised over $8 million dollars to help bring equality and racial justice during the Black Lives Matters protests. Episode Timings * 00:00:00 - Start & Introductions * 00:00:51 - Topic 1: Remembering Joel Schumacher * 00:26:52 - Topic 2: Problematic Creators * 00:49:25 - Topic 3: Itch.io's fundraising ---------------------------------------- Hosted on Acast.
