Ep. 38: David DiPasquale / Dip Soul Lion, Live Painting, Mural Making, & Activating Art With Black Light

Hey Friends, It has been a long time since I shared an interview with an artist. But the wait is over, and I am proud to share this long-overdue interview. This interview was recorded last summer, and after having some massive ups and downs in my world, I am excited to have the space to share this fantastic conversation finally. So here it is, a discussion with David DiPasquale! Here is more about our artist: Hailing from the state of New Jersey, David DiPasquale has been a visual artist for as long as he can remember. As a child, David would recreate his favorite cartoons and comics in sketches and drawings, and as he matured, his skills developed into a professional career as a graphic artist. He studied art at various institutions in New Jersey, New York, and Philadelphia with a focus on illustration, graphic design, and painting, and it was during this time that he honed his incredibly detailed and visionary style. Taking influence from nature, Rastafarian culture, sacred geometry, and planetary and cosmic forms, David's art has been featured in various New England art galleries. He also enjoys performing live art demonstrations for friends and musicians. While he loves creating original and custom paintings, envisioning and bringing to life murals, logos and tattoo designs are also a passion of his. Recently he has connected with several clothing and apparel companies to create original design work to be distributed around the world. Those companies are iApparel based in California, farIapparel based in the Virgin Islands, and moonlitclothing based in Colorado/Texas. His work has a strong following in the US, as well as internationally having sold original art to such countries as Trinidad, Norway, and Australia! David currently lives in Upstate New York where he can be found toiling away at his next masterpiece. Catch me painting murals all summer long. The next few events will be: EverWild in OH OneLoVermont in VT Firelights in NY  Links: https://linktr.ee/dipsoulion [https://linktr.ee/dipsoulion] https://www.dipsoulion.com/ [https://www.dipsoulion.com/] https://www.facebook.com/dipsoulion [https://www.facebook.com/dipsoulion] https://www.instagram.com/dip_soulion/ [https://www.instagram.com/dip_soulion/] Links for the podcast: https://linktr.ee/subnormalchild [https://linktr.ee/subnormalchild] https://linktr.ee/subnormalchild

Ep. 36: Krisztina Lazar, Imaginary Realism, The Alchemy Of Art & Painting Life As It Is Experienced

Hello, dear listener! September brings the shift of Autumn, so to celebrate this change of season with a beautiful conversation with a fantastic artist and teacher. Krisztina is our artist this month, and in this conversation, we talk about her process, how she paints as a way of sharing her life and experiences, her transition into motherhood, and the journey that has led her here. Here is some more about our artist: Krisztina Lazar is a painter of imaginary realism. Her current body of work “Motherhood is Metal” explores the alchemically transformative elements of having a child, from the negredo of total dissolution, the albedo of Madonna-esque bliss to the rubedo of integration and wholeness. Using both a Mische of oil and egg tempera and direct Alla Prima techniques to render hyperealistic sacred art, Krisztina creates figurative and portrait paintings that exist in the vesica piscis of fantasy and visionary painting. Krisztina completed her BFA at Carnegie Mellon University in 2004 and her MFA graduate degree in 2011 at the San Francisco Art Institute New Genres department. Her paintings have been exhibited in group and solo shows throughout the United States and Europe, most notably at the H.R. Geiger museum in Gruyere, Switzerland. She teaches her unique styles of painting to many students in group and private settings. Her work has been featured in multiple articles, galleries and book publications. She currently lives and works in Northern California. Ep. 35: Jade Wolfe, Landscapes, Working With The Elderly, & Psycadelic Colors

Welcome to this bonus episode of the podcast for August. Today, I have the honor of sharing a beautiful conversation with a talented artist named Jade. Her work is truly transformative and filled with magic. Here is some more info about our dear artist! Bio: Jade Wolfe is an artist, art therapy student, and Reiki practitioner from Saskatchewan, Canada. Her work is a testament to the deep interplay between psychology, spirituality, and a profound relationship with the land. Born with an innate curiosity about the human experience, Jade pursued a degree in psychology, delving into the intricate workings of the human psyche. This academic journey planted the seeds of inspiration that would later bloom in her artistic endeavours. The exploration of personal grief, existential questions, self-discovery and spirituality became recurring themes that would inspire her intuitive, visionary work, as well as vibrant landscape paintings. As an art therapy intern, Jade has had the privilege of working closely with residents in long-term care facilities. This experience has not only deepened her understanding of the therapeutic power of art, but has also honed her focus on spirituality, grief, and the significance of our relationship with the natural world. Through art, she has witnessed the transformative potential of creativity in the healing process, guiding individuals towards self-discovery and self-expression. In addition to their work as an art therapist, Jade is a Reiki practitioner, further emphasizing her commitment to holistic healing. The integration of Reiki principles into her artistic practice imbues their work with an added layer of intention and energy, creating pieces that resonate on a spiritual level. Jade's paintings are an invitation to embark on a contemplative journey. Her pieces navigate the intricate tapestry of human emotions, offering solace to the grieving heart and encouraging viewers to reconnect with their creative and spiritual essence. Ep. 34: Charlotte Tara, Culture Building, Ecstatic Dance, & Finding Yourself Through Expression

Hello friend! So excited to share another amazing conversation with you. This time I had the pleasure of interviewing Charlotte Tara. Here is a little more about our artist! About Me I am an intuitive artist working in several creative media: I am a writer, currently writing in the fantasy genre; I am a visual artist with a focus on drawing and painting from my imagination and intuition; and I am a dancer. The source of all of my creative work is the same. This source flows from the center of who I am, and is multifaceted. These facets are: Reverence and Wonder, Intuition, Imagination, and Trust and Non-Attachment. My artistic visions and practices are uniquely mine: a fusion of my own innate gifts and the loving presence and guidance of countless other beings, only a few of which have formally been my teachers.I live in Roanoke, Virginia with my wife, our twin children, and 11 other animals: one dog, three cats, and seven chickens. I grow tall sunflowers.
