About The Weekly Walk-On

Welcome to The Weekly Walk-On by a former college football walk-on. I spent 5 years practicing at a SEC school every day, with minimal playing time. Upon graduating, I pursued a career in collegiate athletics. After 15 years working as an athletics administrator, I have learned so much about what goes into a college game day so the sport I love can exist. After a recent career change, my passion is still college football. My goal is to help others better understand what goes on behind the scenes and hear from those responsible for everything in a college football program outside the lines.

A Story of Perseverance to Become a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach

Join me as I speak with Zeus De La Sancha about his journey to become a collegiate strength and conditioning coach. He starts describing how he came to the conclusion he wanted to coach at the college level. Then he discusses the trials and tribulations during his first couple of positions that were unpaid. Zeus then tells the listeners how he connects with players and helps to motivate them daily. As always, he answers the Weekly Wildcard questions at the end of this season finale episode.

Join me in a special live episode as Courtland and I discuss different ideas to improve the college football postseason. We start with conference championship games and how it's a disadvantage to play an extra game when other teams are getting healthy. Then we discuss what changes would improve the CFP, including total teams, formats, and locations of the games. As always, the episode ends with the Weekly Wildcard questions.
