Acerca de Abdullah Anik Misra

Abdullah Anik Misra is a Canadian Islamic scholar, teacher, and counselor known for his engaging approach to Sacred Law, Prophetic biography, and Islamic spirituality. Born in Toronto in 1983 and raised in a Hindu family, Abdullah Anik Misra embraced Islam in 2001 while studying at the University of Toronto. He later earned a Bachelor of Business Administration before dedicating himself to formal Islamic education. His pursuit of Islamic knowledge led him to Tarim, Yemen and Darul Uloom in Trinidad, where he studied Arabic and foundational Islamic sciences. From 2005 onward, he immersed himself in advanced Islamic studies in Amman, Jordan. There, he completed an Alimiyya degree (Islamic Studies BA equivalent), received ijazah (authorization) in all six canonical hadith collections, and underwent training in Islamic legal verdicts (ifta’). He also served for many years as Director of Programs at the Qasid Arabic Institute. Abdullah Anik Misra currently teaches Sacred Law and Theology through SeekersGuidance Global, while also serving as Religious Director and Imam at the Islamic Society of Orange County (ISOC). He is certified in Islamic counseling and supports both new Muslims and those struggling with religious OCD (waswasa). His teaching style is known for being compassionate, accessible, and rooted in traditional scholarship. In addition to teaching, he has contributed creatively to Islamic arts and education. He authored and wrote the lyrics for the “Seerah Song,” a rhymed English poem narrating the life of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), performed by Zain Bhikha. He is also a regular guest speaker for events hosted by Celebrate Mercy, MCC East Bay, and other organizations. Now based in the Greater Toronto Area with his wife and children, Abdullah Anik Misra continues to balance scholarship, spiritual mentorship, and community outreach. He frequently conducts online seminars, halaqas, and intensive workshops, especially focusing on the Seerah and Islamic belief. His interests include poetry, nasheeds, and Indian history, all of which shape his culturally rich and spiritually grounded approach to teaching.
