59: Striking and Healing (Isaiah 19:22)

Isaiah 19:22 And the Lord will strike Egypt, striking and healing, and they will return to the Lord, and he will listen to their pleas for mercy and heal them.           This passage from Isaiah 19 demonstrates God’s way of dealing with people, any people. He wants people to come close to him. To make this closer relationship with God happen, God strikes people. He strikes you. He doesn’t want to strike you, but he wants to get your attention and bring you back to him. God strikes so that he can heal, so that he can have mercy and bring the Egyptians (and you and me) close to Him. Let us not shun the striking of God, but embrace it and let God heal and let God draw us near to Himself. 58: How to See God’s Glory (Leviticus 9:6)

Leviticus 9:6 And Moses said, “This is the thing that the LORD commanded you to do, that the glory of the LORD may appear to you.” Moses tells the people that they are going to see God and see His glory. So, he gives them directions. Offer these sacrifices so that you can see God’s glory. In other words, get yourself clean, spiritually, and right, so that you can see God. This is a wonderful communion passage. 57: Thinking God’s Way Romans 3:9-18

Romans 3:10 as it is written:        “None is righteous, no, not one;  Paul delivers this message about everyone sinning because he is speaking to the Romans about the gospel. Paul gets this message from the Old Testament, God’s word. Paul thinks this way. Paul studied. Paul heard from God. Paul’s  thinking was influenced by the Scriptures. Paul studied and heard God from these Scriptures. God expects us to hear God in the same way, develop our thinking the same way, from God’s word and listening to God in His word. And what Paul knows, and we should know, is that there is none righteous. This knowledge will drive us to Jesus. 56: Rid Yourself of Ruining Idols (Isaiah 2:18-22)

Isaiah 2:18-22 and the idols will totally disappear. People will flee to caves in the rocks and to holes in the ground from the fearful presence of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth. In that day people will throw away to the moles and bats their idols of silver and idols of gold, which they made to worship. They will flee to caverns in the rocks and to the overhanging crags from the fearful presence of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth. Stop trusting in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nostrils. Why hold them in esteem? The Day of the Lord, a time when God intervenes decisively to judge human pride and false security, is God’s action to rid people of their idols. Idols are false, empty things or people we trust in. God brings judgment to free us and bring us back to His mountain, putting our whole trust in the Lord. So rid yourself of the idols that ruin you and turn your trust to God. 55: Are You Willing? (Acts 26:5)

Acts 26:5  They have known for a long time, if they are willing to testify, that according to the strictest party of our religion I have lived as a Pharisee.  Paul argues that his life and actions have been know and straight forward to the Jews and the people to whom he has proclaimed the gospel. God’s truth is available, even evident. God is presenting the truth to us, even from his disciples. The question is, are you willing to take a very good look at the truth and the facts? Are you willing to examine seriously what God is showing you? If you face the truth, you should surrender to Christ.
