In this debut episode of the One Percent-Her podcast, co-founders Cherry Rose Tan and Glenys Omenya introduce themselves and share the story behind building One Percent-Her, a global movement and platform designed to empower ambitious women entrepreneurs. Glenys begins by sharing how the journey started with Boss Girls Now (@bossgirlsnow), a TikTok page she launched during the 2020 pandemic featuring motivational clips from successful female entrepreneurs and celebrities. The page quickly grew to over 800,000 followers and 40+ million views, but despite the traction, monetizing the platform proved challenging. After connecting through a mutual friend, Glenys partnered with Cherry Rose to rebrand and build something bigger by putting real voices and real stories behind the brand. Cherry Rose then explains the meaning behind One Percent-Her. A serial entrepreneur with 19 years of experience and roots in five generations of entrepreneurs, she shares how the name reflects the reality that women, especially women of color, represent less than 1% of top founders and entrepreneurs, while also embracing the mindset of getting 1% better every day. And so, Glenys and I are so excited to kind of share with you what our entrepreneurial journeys and also our journeys as women have been. We're both women of color, immigrants, and we were able to build success in this hard economy. And we want to share everything with you guys and give you the blueprint for how you can become your best selves.
