The season began by sharing the perspectives of our high school principals, and continued by creating a front row seat for listeners of SPYS’ YouthPowerMN℠ Leadership Institute. With this season, we shine a light on the legacies of creativity, strength and innovation sustaining those of us who belong to Black communities, Indigenous Communities, and Communities of Color.

In this conversation, recorded at the end of the summer session, youth reflect on their growth throughout the 16-day [https://www.spys.org/youthpowermn] program. The young people highlighted the supportive environment provided by SPYS and the transformative impact on their personal lives and collective development as youth building power [https://www.spys.org/youthpowermn]. For this episode, we’re taking a panel approach and mirroring a Sunday Dinner conversation. The purpose is to listen, learn, and build in community and see that we’re more connected, stronger, and powerful together.

YouthPowerMN℠ Leadership Institute Retreat: Awards

The ceremony took place at an overnight retreat at Mt. Olivet Retreat Center in Farmington, MN. During the retreat, SPYS’ curriculum was focused on Healing & Identity, Exploration & Innovation, & Policy Change. Listen to the episode, where SPYS celebrates these youth leaders for learning about themselves and their community and engaging in creative and critical thinking.     About YouthPowerMN℠: St Paul Youth Services’ YouthPowerMN℠ Leadership Institute offers an organizing hub where Black youth are compensated for their intellectual capital, lived experiences, and contributions to improve our communities. The episode takes you to the YouthPowerMN℠ hub, where youth leaders co-developed a Code of Conduct, learned about themselves and their community, and engaged in creative and critical thinking.
