Week 13 Psalm 119:97 - 104 "Mem : Water"

Mem is a shortened form of “Maim”,” or water. Made up of a vav and a kaf, the gematria of these parts is 26, the same value for the sacred Name, “YHVH.” In traditional Hebrew gematria, Mem has the value of 40, which shows up in many of the historical accounts of the scriptures; Israel's 40 years in the Wilderness, Moses' 40 days and nights on Sinai, 40 days of rain in the flood account, and of course, Yeshua spent 40 days fasting from food and water in the wilderness. Week 12 Psalm 119:89 - 96 "Lamed : King of Kings"

This week we study the letter Lamed, and our next 8 verses in Psalm 119:89 - 96. Lamed literally rises above all other Hebrew leters, and is represented by a Vav poised on top of a Kaf, like the lamp Yeshua speaks of, it is meant to be seen by all; a "city on a hill" after all, can not be hidden. Knowingwhat we know about hte leter Kaf, a picture emerges in light of Yeshua's words, and the letter Lamed. Kaf was the "work of our hands." The Kaf on which the Vav stands could be likened to the light being seen by way of the good deeds, or mitzvot of a man. Jesus said, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matt 5:16). At Grace Messianic we study the Hebrew Roots of our Christian faith. Our Messiah was, and remains, a Hebrew Rabbi, from the tribe of Judah. Week 11 Psalm 119:81 -88 "Kof : Works of your Hands"

After a short recap of each letter so far, this week we study the letter Kaf, along with our next 8 verses in Psalm 119:81-88. These verses begin with the Hebrew letter "Kof." Kaf is a symbol of the “works of your hands.” It can mean a spoon, or the palm of your hand. What are the “works of our hands” supposed to look like when we are disciples of the King? I'll give you a hint: our fruit should be the same as the tree from which we came. We are living in a time where it has become acceptable for believers to insert their own definitions onto biblical things. Go to any Christian book store, and you will see what I am talking about. There are a multitude of books written about topics in the bible, without so much as a reference to the Jewish culture from which they are rooted. We are living in the midst of a corrupt culture, whether it is inside the church, or out, we do not have the time or the option of simply accepting what we have always known. We owe it to our Master to stop being content with half-truths or lies. It is time for us t get into His Word and study these things out for ourselves!
