Mike Lin (profile [https://www.linkedin.com/in/michaeltlin/]) is the Founder & Chairman of Fenix International (fenixintl.com [http://fenixintl.com]), a venture backed renewable energy startup focused on building solar power systems for the 1.2 billion people without power in emerging markets. Mike founded Fenix in 2009 after a previous Africa-focused energy startup went bust.  He shares how Fenix began in Uganda by developing a solar products to charge mobile phones for projects with Google and the Grameen Foundation and grew to scale through partnerships with cell phone providers like MTN, Africa’s largest telecom.  Mike also challenges stereotypes about doing business in Africa and explores the complexity of personal sustainability in startups.
