May 24 Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. - Ephesians 4:30 The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. - John 14:26 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them; in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old. But they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit; therefore he turned to be their enemy, and himself fought against them. - Isaiah 63:9-10 By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. - 1 John 4:13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it. - Ephesians 1:13-14 Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. - Galatians 5:16-17 The Spirit helps us in our weakness. - Romans 8:26 Adapted from “Daily Light”, published by Samuel Bagster in 1875. June 6 The LORD… will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. - Zephaniah 3:17 It was not because you were more in number than any other people that the LORD set his love on you and chose you, for you were the fewest of all peoples, but it is because the LORD loves you. - Deuteronomy 7:7-8 We love because he first loved us. - 1 John 4:19 And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him. - Colossians 1:21-22 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. - 1 John 4:10 God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. - Romans 5:8 Behold, a voice from heaven said, This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. - Matthew 3:17 For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. - John 10:17 His Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. - Hebrews 1:2-3 Adapted from “Daily Light”, published by Samuel Bagster in 1875. This is a public episode. June 5 When you have done all that you were commanded, say, We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty. - Luke 17:10 Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith. - Romans 3:27 What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it? - 1 Corinthians 4:7 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. - Ephesians 2:8-10 By the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. - 1 Corinthians 15:10 For from him and through him and to him are all things. - Romans 11:36 All things come from you, and of your own have we given you. - 1 Chronicles 29:14 Adapted from “Daily Light”, published by Samuel Bagster in 1875. June 3 Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming. - Matthew 25:13 Watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap. For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth. But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man. - Luke 21:34-36 The day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober. - 1 Thessalonians 5:2-6 Adapted from “Daily Light”, published by Samuel Bagster in 1875. This is a public episode.
