Around the Corner (Sêng-Gān)
Using A Foggy Tale as a starting point, this cornoer reflects on the White Terror from a contemporary perspective: how historical amnesia in Taiwan has made it difficult for many people to understand the suffering of that era, and to see how state violence, surveillance, and the erasure of memory continue to shape Taiwan’s present political reality and collective loneliness. From the absurd symbolism of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, to the torture of political prisoners, to the meaning of the “two drops of water,” this corner explores the pain that comes with knowledge, the loneliness of those who awaken earlier than others, and how the quiet efforts of ordinary people can help pass historical memory and transitional justice on to future generations. ✉️ Collaboration inquiries: aroundthecornercast@gmail.com ☕️ Support the show: https://pay.soundon.fm/podcasts/f53cfad4-ca02-4b09-9b3a-ec899eef5ff8 [https://pay.soundon.fm/podcasts/f53cfad4-ca02-4b09-9b3a-ec899eef5ff8] 🎧 Mandarin version available (華語版本): 如果你習慣用華語收聽,歡迎在各大平台搜尋《前方的轉角》 -- Hosting provided by SoundOn [https://www.soundon.fm/]
