Does the Military Hate Your Religion? & Do Protestants Actually Do Last Rites?

The Department of Defense just dropped 180 faiths from their recognized religion list—because apparently, the military is now in the business of consolidating eternity. We’re breaking down what this bureaucratic "streamlining" means for soldiers, and why the "Church of the Spiral Tree" didn't make the cut (spoilers: it’s inactive).  We also dive into the grizzly intersection of high-level science and mysterious disappearances, plus a candid, if slightly sardonic, look at why Protestants don't traditionally "do" last rites and whether you’re just the religion your parents assigned you as a "lottery" at birth. Join us as we navigate the ridiculous, the spiritual, and the surprisingly necessary questions of faith on this week’s Ask A Christian Podcast.  For more content, visit: https://www.askachristianpodcast.com 📚 Resources & Links     • Article: DOD Drops 180 Faiths From Military Recognized Religion List - https://www.military.com/dod-officially-drops-180-faiths-from-militarys-recognized-religion-list     • News: Missing US Scientist’s Body Found - https://nypost.com/2026/06/03/us-news/missing-us-scientists-body-found-skeletonized-with-gunshot-wound-as-grisly-details-emerge-report/ Timestamps 00:00 - Intro 00:30 - DoD drops 180 faiths from military list 05:29 - What is the Church of the Spiral Tree? 07:37 - Are religious freedom rights being violated? 10:00 - Do chaplains perform last rites for other religions? 13:56 - Is this Christian nationalism or just consolidation? 21:28 - Missing scientists and conspiracy theories 27:40 - What are last rites in Christianity? 33:03 - Why don't Protestants perform last rites? 40:19 - Is it evil to let people believe what makes them comfortable? 44:20 - Personal story: Faith, family, and the end of life 50:37 - Are you just the religion of your parents? 56:16 - Why do people leave the church? 1:01:25 - Reaction: Is Jesus a drag queen? Bethel Pastor: Prophetic Word is "God's Sperm"? (Wild Heresy or Bible Truth?)

In this episode of Ask A Christian Podcast, Nate and the crew react to Bethel Church leader Kris Vallotton’s shocking claim that prophetic words are “God’s sperm” that need to impregnate the “womb of the dawn.” We break down the bizarre analogy, the linguistic roots, and why it raises major red flags. We also respond to an atheist arguing the Bible doesn’t say life begins at conception (with strong Scripture pushback), a fiery TikTok rant mocking talking snakes and Jonah, plus a quick recap of yesterday’s deep dive on “Can You Lose Your Salvation?” — OSAS, election, perseverance, and assurance of faith. Expect honest debate, Scripture, laughs, and zero filter on the weirdness coming out of Bethel. Once Saved Always Saved – True or False? (Can You Lose Your Salvation Explained)

Can you lose your salvation? Is "Once Saved Always Saved" the same thing as the Perseverance of the Saints — or are these actually two different doctrines that Christians keep confusing? Nate and the crew tackle this classic debate head-on, along with a TikTok atheist (a former pastor, naturally) who argues the Bible contradicts itself and Christians have to "torture" the text to make it make sense. Spoiler: they don't torture it very hard. In this episode of the Ask A Christian Podcast, Nate, Steph, Lou, and the panel break down: The viral "former pastor turned atheist" video claiming Paul and James contradict each other on faith and works — and why that's a 101-level misread The actual distinction between OSAS (Once Saved Always Saved) and Perseverance of the Saints — yes, they're different, and yes, it matters What actually sends someone to hell — sin or rejection of Christ? A TikTok woman who says Christians are just science-denying religious fanatics quoting Karl Marx — and why that argument is weaker than it sounds The indwelling Holy Spirit and why critics of Christianity are often fighting with an incomplete picture Hebrews 10 and 12, eternal security, and what it means to persevere in faith Whether you're Reformed, Baptist, somewhere in between, or just trying to figure out if your salvation is secure, this one's for you. And if you're still confused about OSAS after listening — don't worry, they argued about it for like 45 minutes too. episode What Does God Really Condone? (Pride Month Special) - Is the Bible Pro-Slavery? artwork

What Does God Really Condone? (Pride Month Special) - Is the Bible Pro-Slavery?

June is here, which means it's officially Pride Month — and we've got a lot to talk about. In this episode of the Ask A Christian Podcast, host Nate and the crew dig into the full Pride Month calendar from a Christian perspective. What's the biblical response when a secular world dedicates an entire month to something Scripture has clear things to say about? Spoiler: it's more nuanced than a social media argument, and it requires more love than a counter-protest sign. Then things get weird — in the best possible way. Christian furries are apparently a thing. Yes, really. We're talking about the growing tension between the furry fandom and Christians who happen to be part of it, and asking the honest question: what does a biblical worldview say about identity, community, and dressing up as a wolf? (For what it's worth, Jesus is called both a Lion and a Lamb in Scripture, so animals aren't entirely off the table.) We also tackle one of the internet's favorite bad-faith Bible memes: the claim that Abraham was just a schizophrenic hearing voices when he nearly sacrificed his son Isaac. It's a serious objection that deserves a serious answer — and we give it one. The context of Genesis 22, the theological weight of the Akedah, and the coherence of divine revelation all point to something far more intentional than a hallucination. Then, because online fandoms have apparently lost their minds, we cover the story of Kathleen Koszola — a 61-year-old widow who started a Disney World fan page to cope with grief after losing her husband, and found herself harassed, stalked, and doxxed by rabid Disney adults who apparently treat the Magic Kingdom like a religion you're not allowed to film. Relevant story from the New York Post (read more at: https://nypost.com/2026/06/02/us-news/rabid-disney-adults-harass-doxx-widow-over-her-magic-kingdom-videos/) And we close with one of the most common and most serious objections to Christianity: does the New Testament condone slavery? We break down the Greek word doulos, how translators have wrestled with it for centuries, what Paul actually meant when he called himself a "bondservant of Christ," and why the Bible's view of human dignity is far more radical than its critics give it credit for. Whether you're wrestling with hard questions or just trying to keep up with June, this episode has something for you.
