Episode 10 - Jacobs Ladder - From Tragedy to a Safety Mission

Episode 10 - Jacobs Ladder - From Tragedy to a Safety Mission Some conversations stay with you long after the microphones are off. This is one of them. In our latest episode of the B1C Podcast, we sit down with Jason Page, CSHO, CEHSP, OSHA Authorized Trainer, father, professional, and co-founder of Jacob's Ladder Foundation for Safety Awareness & Training [https://www.linkedin.com/feed/]. This is more than a discussion about safety… It’s a story of purpose born from loss, and a mission driven by love. Jason shares the story of his son Jacob—a 21-year-old with a future full of promise, a volunteer firefighter, and a young man working hard in the oil and gas industry. A tragic fall took his life far too soon. But from that moment, a new mission began. Jacob’s Ladder Foundation is not built on words—it’s built on action. Focused on education, advocacy, and real-world training, the foundation is pushing to create safer environments in industries where the risks are real and the margin for error is small. What makes this conversation powerful is not just the tragedy, but the transformation. Jason himself survived a life-altering workplace injury years ago. He understands firsthand the impact safety—or the lack of it—can have. Now, through the foundation, he’s turning experience, grief, and resilience into something that can save lives. This episode is a reminder to all of us—leaders, workers, and organizations: Safety is not a checkbox. ** It is not a policy sitting on a shelf. ** It is a responsibility we carry for each other. ** If one conversation can spark awareness… ** If one story can change a decision… ** If one life can be saved… Then this mission matters.🎧 Listen to the full episode and join us in supporting a movement that’s making a difference—one life, one lesson, one workplace at a time. #B1CPodcast #Leadership #SafetyCulture #WorkplaceSafety #Jacobsladder #NeverForget #FirstResponders #OilAndGas #ConstructionSafety #SafetyMatters

Episode 9 - From 9-1-1 Dispatcher to Social Media Influencer

B1C Podcast – Episode 9: From 9-1-1 Dispatcher to Social Media Influencer  In Episode 9 of the B1C Podcast, we sit down for a powerful conversation with Craig, a dedicated 9-1-1 dispatcher who has transformed personal experience, service, and advocacy into a growing platform of purpose. From answering crisis calls behind the headset to becoming the voice behind HitofTruth, Craig shares his journey of using social media to create something bigger than content—a community. This episode explores the realities of life as a telecommunicator, the experiences that shaped his mission, and why creating safe spaces for people to speak up, share their stories, and feel heard matters now more than ever. Craig’s platform is rooted in authenticity, support, and standing up for the first responder community. His mission is simple but powerful: give people a place to come as they are, tell their truth, support one another, and know they are not alone. Important Note: This episode is audio only. This is why we don't script... it is raw and real and recorded in the moment to capture real, unfiltered conversation, a technology failure challenged our process—but it didn’t stop the message. We pushed through and still delivered an incredible, impactful episode that we’re proud to share. Be sure to check out Craig on TikTok at @hitoftruth (Hit of Truth [https://www.tiktok.com/@hitoftruth?_r=1&_t=ZP-95zC8zCXhYU]) — and like, follow, share, and support his mission to amplify voices, encourage honest conversations, and strengthen support for the first responder community.  Join us for an honest and inspiring discussion about purpose, advocacy, resilience, and using your voice to make an impact. One story can start a conversation. One conversation can build a community.

Episode _ 7 EAPs_ Are They Delivering for First Responders_

Charles Dickinson II [https://www.linkedin.com/in/charles-dickinson-ii-a3196752/?lipi=urn%3Ali%3Apage%3Ad_flagship3_detail_base%3BHQOBvBg%2BRDiAiVPEUn7S1Q%3D%3D] and I had the opportunity to sit down with Joy Hutchinson, Ph.D., LPC-MHSP, NCC, CCTP-II, EMT-P [https://www.linkedin.com/in/joy-hutchinson-ph-d-lpc-mhsp-ncc-cctp-ii-emt-p-350ab2181/], for a powerful and honest conversation on the role of Employee Assistance Programs in the first responder community. This was not a surface-level discussion. We reviewed the gaps in EAPs, especially where they fall short in building trust, accessibility, and real impact for the men and women they are meant to support. What stood out most was the path forward. EAPs cannot exist as a standalone benefit. They must be part of a larger, intentional strategy that includes leadership training, strong and clearly written programs, and a balance of clinical and non-clinical support. Success also depends on connecting responders to validated resources at the local, regional, and national levels. This conversation challenged the idea of checking a box and pushed toward building systems that truly support mental health and wellness in our organizations. If you are in a leadership position, this conversation is worth reflecting on. "Share your story. Because you matter."
