Is Benavidez REALLY the Guy? | Roach vs Zepeda Shifts 135 | Can Loma Still Win?

The whole crew is back this week and we opened the episode talking about Quinton Randall picking up another win Friday night in Houston, improving his professional record to 16-3-1. We discussed what the victory means moving forward. From there we got into the Keyshawn Davis weigh-in situation ahead of his rematch with Nahir Albright. We discussed Keyshawn initially missing weight before making it on the second attempt, the conversations surrounding the scale, and whether situations like that matter mentally heading into a fight. We also talked about Vasiliy Lomachenko reportedly plotting a return at 135 pounds and debated which fight makes the most sense for him now. We discussed Raymond Muratalla, Shakur Stevenson, title opportunities, and whether Loma should focus on legacy fights or championship fights at this stage of his career. Another major topic was the reported August 1 matchup between Lamont Roach Jr. and William Zepeda for the vacant WBC lightweight title. We broke down the stylistic matchup, who needs the fight more, and what a victory could do for either fighter moving forward. We also touched on David Morrell’s upset loss to Zak Chelli and how quickly momentum can change in boxing. To close the episode, we had a bigger conversation about David Benavidez and whether he’s truly become the guy from 168 to cruiserweight despite not getting the mega fights he’s been chasing. We discussed boxing politics, fan support, and whether Benavidez is already viewed as one of the most avoided fighters in the sport. Tap in for the full episode.

Boots Calls CAP on Haney | Did Canelo Finally Age Overnight? | Teo Says Shakur Too Small

David Morrell gets upset LIVE while the episode is being recorded and the convo instantly turns into a bigger question… was 175 always too much for him? From stories about seeing Morrell in the Ronnie Shields gym to revisiting Shakur saying Morrell was better than Opetaia, the guys break down whether that take aged terribly overnight. Then the focus shifts to Teofimo Lopez and Devin Haney on Inside The Ring with Max Kellerman. The biggest moment? Teo saying Shakur is too small for 147 while Devin says all of them eventually end up at 147 and 154 anyway. After just seeing Shakur recently, the crew debates whether people are seriously underestimating his size. They also react to Ring Magazine’s updated pound-for-pound rankings with Inoue moving to #1 and Benavidez jumping Bivol at #5. Did Ring get it right or are they moving the goalposts? Keyshawn Davis, Brian Norman and Kelvin Davis all return on what feels like a redemption card, O’Shaquie Foster and Ray Ford’s matchup gets dissected after both fighters appeared on the Mr. Versace podcast, and the conversation gets real interesting around who actually has more to lose. The episode also dives into Canelo vs Mbilli and whether this is a dangerous comeback fight for a 35-year-old Canelo coming off surgery, inactivity and a loss to Crawford. Is this still the same Canelo or did Father Time finally pull up? And to close things out… Boots Ennis says Devin Haney ghosted negotiations for a 152-pound fight. Was the weight fair? Did Devin avoid the fight? Or is Boots pushing a narrative?

episode Crawford STILL Has Something to Prove?! | Spence Been Gone Too Long?! | Benavidez KO artwork

Crawford STILL Has Something to Prove?! | Spence Been Gone Too Long?! | Benavidez KO

The Agnew Podcast pulled up to J Prince Boxing Gym and had Shakur Stevenson tap in with us. We started with the PBC card and kept it to the three fights that mattered. Benavidez vs Zurdo was a statement. Benavidez moved up, walked him down, and broke him down. That wasn’t close and he showed he belongs at that weight. Munguia vs Resendiz was a solid win but nothing crazy. He handled business, just didn’t look unbeatable. Duarte vs Fierro is where the convo really started. Duarte got the decision, but it felt debatable and one of those fights people not gonna agree on. Then it was Inoue vs Nakatani. We broke down what went wrong for Nakatani and how much that head clash really mattered, and how close that fight could’ve been if things played out different. From there we got into Bam vs Inoue potentially getting lined up and Shakur spoke on sparring Vargas ahead of that. Then we talked Spence vs Tszyu, the press conference tension, and whether Spence been gone too long or still that guy, plus his comments about Charlo. We also hit on Adrien Broner being on stream with Deen, with Shakur sharing his own experiences around AB and what he thinks about all that. Then we closed it with Crawford being outside more and talking different, and whether he still feels like he has something to prove.

episode Haney Wants TOO MUCH MONEY?! |Charlo Has NOTHING to Offer?! | Shock vs Ray Savage artwork

Haney Wants TOO MUCH MONEY?! |Charlo Has NOTHING to Offer?! | Shock vs Ray Savage

We start with Devin Haney and the growing tension with Eddie Hearn, as Hearn questions Haney’s current market value and whether his financial demands match his draw without a major opponent. We get into what this means for Haney’s next move and how boxing’s inflated paydays are starting to catch up with certain fighters. Next, we talk Teofimo Lopez turning down a world title opportunity at 140 to move up to 147, choosing bigger fights over immediate belts. We break down what that says about today’s boxing landscape and whether titles still carry the same weight they used to. We then shift to Jermell Charlo, who after three years out of the ring is already in talks with Sebastian Fundora for a championship fight. We discuss the risk of skipping a tune-up, what kind of Charlo we should expect, and how dangerous that matchup really is. From there, we get into O’Shaquie Foster vs Raymond Ford, a fight built on real tension and mutual belief. We talk about Foster’s mindset as a champion who still feels overlooked, Ford’s confidence moving up, and why this is one of the purest fights on the schedule. We also preview a massive fight weekend, headlined by David Benavidez vs Gilberto Ramirez, where Benavidez moves up in weight to face a naturally bigger champion, and what’s at stake for both fighters in a division shift li ŵeke this. Finally, we close with Naoya Inoue vs Junto Nakatani, a high-level matchup between two undefeated fighters in their prime. We break down why this is the most competitive fight on the slate and what it would mean if Inoue finally gets pushed.
