This show is hosted by the physicians at Columbus Chiropractic & Rehabilitation Center in Dublin, OH. These are quick conversations about health, fitness, and rehab to help listeners better understand the daunting medical field. We want to empower listeners to take control of their health and better understand some of the important topics impacting this mission. We cover everything from common medical conditions like sciatica and shoulder impingement to broader topics like understanding pain and what are the benefits of having a functional approach. We try to keep these short, usually 10-12 minutes, but occasionally have longer chats with movers and shakers in the industry.

Exercise is important. There is no question about it. But you need to be exercising with a certain intensity and volume to get results, no matter the goal. If you train too easy, you don't get the results you are looking for. If you train too hard, you increase your risk of injury. As chiropractors, we treat the spine, and I would say with all humility that we do it well. What many of you may not know, however, is that we also treat non-spine conditions such as shoulder impingement, ITB issues in runners, or even carpal tunnel. Episode 9: Proper Bracing

Bracing is a conscious effort to stiffen the spine. We all do it; typically when we lift up something heavy. Not all bracing strategies are equally effective nor equally safe. In this episode, Dr. Ulm and Dr. Muse discuss a common compensatory stabilizing strategy called the Extension/Compression Stabilizing Strategy and proper stabilization. This episode is good for anyone experiencing lower back pain or who lifts weights on a regular basis.
