Naaman already had a script in his mind for how God would heal him of his leprosy. But to receive God’s help, we must lay aside our own expectations, opinions, and preconceived ideas.

Prayer 2: Praying God’s Word

Effective prayer is rooted in the revelation of Scripture; we simply cannot pray according to God’s will if we do not know His Word.

“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed” (Mark 1:35)

The Garden of Gethsemane

They went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” He took Peter, James and John along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled. “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death,” he said to them. “Stay here and keep watch.”
