Episode #69: The Season You Are In I Ep. 5 Recovery Phase

Recovery is the most misunderstood phase of the season. Most people get it wrong in one of two ways. 1. They take a giant vacation and disappear from the work entirely 2. They skip it and keep dialing the intensity until they burn out. Neither is recovery. Recovery is a deliberate phase with work attached. Skip it and the next season starts from a worse place than it should. This episode walks through the four pieces of real recovery: celebration, reflection, evidence, and contained rest. Why most high performers skip celebration and what it costs them. How to reflect using fact versus story so the brain stops exaggerating what went wrong. The volume button approach to managing intensity across the rest of your life. And what closing a season actually looks like so the next one can start strong. This closes out The Season You Are In series on the Finding Your Endurance Mindset Podcast. Base, build, peak, recovery. Whatever phase you're in next, the work is the same: do the work that belongs to the phase you're in. Episode #68: The Season You are In l Ep. 4: Peak Phase

What lesson keeps coming back to you? Peak phase is the moment everything you've trained for shows up to meet you. There are 2 things to know about Peak Phase 1: you are entitled to nothing 2: this is when the lesson you have been carrying all season is the one that shows up and you can either learn and grow or have it hit you over the head again. When you are open to it, Peak Phase is when you have been trained to be at your best and you can handle take in that lesson and grow from it, if you choose. You are not entitled to the result. Best training block of your life and your legs can still have ten watts less than you needed. That is just what peak is. It is not a guaranteed performance. It is an invitation to find out what you actually have. From The Season You Are In series on the Finding Your Endurance Mindset Podcast. Episode #67: The Season Your Are In l Ep. 3: The Build Phase

We've moved out of base. Intensity is going up, intervals are in, and stress moves to the center of the conversation. Stress isn't the enemy. The build phase runs on it. The question is whether the stress you're applying is controlled and intentional — or random and reactive. In this episode: * What the build phase asks of you in sport, business, and life * Controlled stress vs. random stress, and why the distinction matters * Capacity beliefs and belief ceilings — what happens when your work outpaces what you think you can handle * Why discomfort is a signal that growth is happening, not a sign that something is wrong * The momentum trap: adding too much, dropping recovery, and how the build phase quietly turns into burnout Add stress. Sit in the discomfort. Grow. Then do it again. Next episode: the peak performance phase. Episode #66: The Season You Are In | Ep. 2: The Base Phase

Base phase doesn't get a lot of glory. No PRs to post, no breakthroughs to share — just the consistent work that everything else gets built on. That's exactly why it's the hardest phase to stay in. In this episode, we get into what the base phase actually is — in training, in business, and in life — and why so many people either skip it, shorten it, or quietly abandon it when things start to feel slow or boring. We cover: * Why boredom in base phase is expected and how to stop letting it pull you off plan * The comparison trap that shows up when your current fitness doesn't match your past * Future belief work — a practical way to anchor yourself to where you're going instead of where you currently are * How to manage your energy strategically and stop spending matches you'll need later * The difference between being behind and simply being in the right phase Base phase isn't the waiting room. It's the season. This episode is about treating it that way. Next episode: The build phase — and why controlled stress is your friend, but random stress isn't. Episode #65: The Season You Are In: You Can't Always Be Peaking | Ep. 1

In this first episode of The Season You Are In, Jennifer kicks off a brand new mini series by breaking down one of the most powerful — and overlooked — concepts in endurance sports and life: you are always in a season, whether you're paying attention to it or not. Drawing from her own recent experience racing the Black Canyon 50K on base fitness, Jennifer talks about what happens when your expectations don't match the phase you're actually in. The result? Frustration, self-judgment, and a whole lot of unnecessary suffering. In this episode, you'll learn: * Why peak fitness — and peak performance in business — is meant to be temporary * How to identify the four phases of your season: base, build, peak, and recovery * What the "mismatch" between where you are and where you think you should be is really costing you * How to label your season correctly and trust yourself to do the right work at the right time Whether you're an athlete, entrepreneur, or creative, this episode will change how you measure where you are — and help you stop arguing with reality. Next episode: we're diving deep into the base phase.
