Are you curious about Jesus? Not the Jesus you've seen in movies or heard about in Sunday school - But the Jesus who lived as a Jew in the first century in a Roman province, spent the first part of his life in Egypt and whose words and actions brought with them context from Jewish and Roman cultures he was surrounded by? You're in the right place. In this podcast we're reading the book of Matthew, the gospel that was written in Hebrew specifically intended for a Jewish audience. Each week I will read through a chapter with special guest and we will discuss the all the history and cultural references taking place, while also having some fun. Completely new to the Bible? No problem - I've got you! The first episode of the podcast I lay out the story of the Old Testament in an hour to give you a good foundation on what everyone is talking about in the New Testament. And in the second episode I go over everything that happened in the 400 years between the Old Testament and the gospels (WHICH IS HUGELY IMPORTANT!). Whether you are a Bible novice or a Bible scholar, everyone who is curious is sure to get something new and interesting from Jesus Curious.
