Ep #04: Young people, Identity and the media ft Roxy Legane

The Industry Edit took a little break but we are back with another episode (and it's a great one, too). Blogger, Roxy Legane, joins me on the podcast to discuss her new YouTube channel @Kidsofcolourhq. Roxy created this platform with the hope of sharing the experiences of young people of colour living in the UK. We discussed Roxy's blog Growing Up Mixed Up, how an undergraduate degree in Criminology helped create KidsofColour; and why the two are so closely interlinked. Further discussion includes things that have recently inspired Roxy; what the future has installed for @KidsofColourhq and tips/advice for anyone that wants to explore their own experiences of Race. Plus, hear Roxy's tips for going freelance! You can email us any thoughts, comments, suggestions on this week's episode at: theindustryedit@hotmail.com or tweet us @industryedit. And please do rate, review and Subscribe! See you in a fortnight! Ep #03: That period of limbo after graduating, Creative Access and the music industry ft. Syriol

It is another classical music episode this week but another prospective of the industry! On the podcast this week we are joined by, my sister, Syriol Benissan. We discuss the challenges of finding a job within the music industry from a recent graduates prospective (Syriol graduated last year, 2017). How does one escape that period of limbo after graduating? Well, Syriol provides the steps that she has taken to successfully overcome this. Also today, some discussion surrounding Creative Access and the great things they are doing to help other creators and the work place. Syriol enlightens us about her experiences with Creative Access and the assistance they provide outside of helping creators obtain an internship or job. Plus, we hear Syriol play some pieces of music that she turns to when she wants to recharge her creatively. And, if you're nosey like us, Syriol shares musicians that she loves from Tasmin Little to @ThatViolaKid. Enjoy!

Episode #01: Anxiety, crowd-funding and finding inspiration with 3 of Cups Press

A huge array of discussion on the pod this week featuring the lovely Lizzie Huxley-Jones and Vanessa Peterson from 3 of Cups Press. We discuss the lack of diversity in the publishing industry, redefining anthologies and unpaid internships. Taking a look at the publishing industry from a micro-publishers perspective; we discuss the genesis of 'On Anxiety' to receiving the final product! How can such a small publisher afford to produce an anthology, pay their contributors, yet still afford to pay themselves? If a small publishing press can do this, can we really excuse larger firms? Plus, further discussion about the first time we noticed that there was a lack of diversity and inclusivity within the publishing industry. Also today, we learn what inspires 3 of Cups press; their creative fountain, what/who they turn to for inspiration - from the contributors of 'On Anxiety' to lunchtime walks in the V&A.
