How to Support Neurodivergent Employees with Nicole Done & Jude Pullen | The Culture Engineers

Always Be Connecting: The Culture Engineers webinar featured experts Jude Pullen (an award-winning creative technologist) and Nicole Done (a neuro-inclusion expert). Hosted by our very own Linsey Houston! Neurodiversity is no longer just a "nice-to-have" but a fundamental driver of business innovation. You will learn how cognitive diversity acts as an organisational lifeline, helping teams identify critical blind spots and build "antifragile" systems that thrive under pressure. By shifting the perspective from a deficit-based model to a strength-based approach, the session highlights how traits like visual thinking and high-level analysis can revolutionise problem-solving. We also explore the massive market potential of "inclusive design," where solving for the margins leads to breakthroughs for the masses. Leaders will walk away with actionable strategies to foster psychological safety and move toward inquisitive management styles. Key Topics * System 1 vs. System 2 Thinking: Understanding automatic vs. complex decision modes . * The "Window of Tolerance": Identifying when someone is hyper-aroused (angry) or hypo-aroused (shut down) . * The Power of Context: Why lived experience matters more than immediate reactions. * The P.E.A.C.E. Dima Istambouli on Rebuilding Your Life After Rock Bottom

Dima Istambouli, founder of Mind Architecture and author of Intentional Reset, shares her journey from a high-stress career in construction to hitting rock bottom, and how she rebuilt her life by "architecting" her mind. We explore the biology of burnout, explaining how stress physically "narrows" our perspective and why true healing requires rewiring the 95% of our brain that runs on subconscious autopilot.  Key Topics: * The "Cortisol Face": Recognising the physical signs of stress. * Mind vs. Brain: How to stop your mind from sending "fight or flight" signals. * The 95% Rule: Why willpower fails if you don't reprogram your subconscious. * Parenting Shift: Moving from "controller" to "partner" after age 12. * Wabi-Sabi: Finding strength and beauty in your life's cracks and traumas. aflevering Sunil Purba on Aligning Marketing and Finance for Growth artwork

Sunil Purba on Aligning Marketing and Finance for Growth

We talk with Sunil Purba about the critical misalignment between marketing and finance in business, noting that while both departments ultimately want growth, they often fail to communicate effectively. Marketing often focuses on intangible metrics like impressions and engagement, whereas finance is centered on the bottom line, viewing marketing as a cost input.  Sunil (who is a chartered accountant and former CEO of The Invisible Orthodontist) explains the distinction between short-term marketing (leads and conversions) and long-term brand awareness (capital investment) is crucial for success. For finance to appreciate long-term marketing, success must still be measured, perhaps using intangible metrics like social media followers. Small business owners should work with an advisor or accountant to design a regular reporting template that monitors a relevant set of three to seven key metrics.  Sunil also discusses external indicators, noting that consumer confidence scores (like the Westpac Institute survey) are vital, as they translate directly to consumer spending intentions and help inform strategy. Ultimately, businesses that continue to invest strategically in marketing during tough times often pay off over the long term. Shahrazz Hayat on Global Markets and Youth-Focused Design

We talk with Shahrazz, who shares his journey from growing up in retail, getting senior positions very early on, and working for large chains like British Home Stores and later worked in optics, leading to a head-hunted role to open Vision Express franchise stores in the Middle East. This experience, which included working in foreign exchange finance and spending two years in New York, gave Shahrazz a solid knowledge of different cultures, environments, and markets. Working for Collins, a 206-year-old brand, Shahrazz helped create the new Jumble & Co. brand to appeal to the younger generation.  The Jumble & Co. journals focus on mental health, are made from 100% recycled paper, and are kept at an accessible price point, addressing the three key things Generation Z is looking for: mental health focus, sustainability, and accessibility. To keep designs current and relevant, the company uses external agencies that employ young graduates to design the products, and runs design competitions with institutions like the Glasgow School of Art and Billy Blue, a design university in Australia.  Shahrazz maintains a big-picture view by being present in the market, seeking feedback from the entire global team, and empowering them with ownership over the process. Ultimately, the goal is to see the Jumble & Co. brand grow and for the younger generation to continue using a diary as a useful tool for mental health and personal reflection.
