Bunny Bait

The fifth episode of Deliver U.S. from Dehumanization tells the story of five-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos, a child whose blue bunny hat and Spider-Man backpack became a viral image after he and his father were detained by ICE in Minnesota. Witnesses allege Liam was used as bait to draw other individuals out of his home. However, the Department of Homeland Security disputes this, claiming they were only tending to Liam after being abandoned by his father. But despite the conflict of narratives, this episode asks a deeper question: What happens to the children whose photos never go viral and why are kids being detained in the first place? If you’ve been impacted by deportation, detention, or the constant fear of being seen as “other,” I want to hear from you. Your stories deserve space. Your voice deserves to be heard. Stolen Promise

The fourth episode of Deliver U.S. from Dehumanization tells the story of Silverio Villegas González, an immigrant from Michoacán, Mexico, and the single father of two young children. Silverio was only 38 years old when he was killed by an ICE agent. Moments after dropping off his three-year-old at daycare, he was pronounced dead on the side of the road. His story exposes the dangerous tactics agents now enforce on both non-citizens and citizens alike, revealing the fragility of the protections promised under the United States government. This episode questions the limits of our humanity and asks how many more lives must be lost to restore what little remains. How much of our humanity are we willing to sacrifice in the name of enforcement, and is it worth it? A bullet does not distinguish between legal status, intention, or who gets left behind. If you’ve been impacted by deportation, detention, or the constant fear of being seen as “other,” I want to hear from you. Your stories deserve space. Your voice deserves to be heard. A Dreamer's Worst Nightmare

The third episode of Deliver U.S. from Dehumanization tells the story of a dreamer, a Dream Act (DACA) recipient who was brought to the United States at just 13 years old, went to school, worked, and built a family here, only to be taken away and locked inside one of the country’s most notorious detention centers known as “Alligator Alcatraz.” This story reflects the brutal reality of our political climate today, where even those once protected are now being detained by the very laws that promised them safety. This episode questions the limits of the law and the fragility of DACA. How safe are our Dreamers? Does this mean every single DACA recipient is vulnerable to deportation? How strong is the protection DACA was meant to provide? These are questions we seek to answer in this week's episode. If you’ve been impacted by deportation, detention, or the constant fear of being seen as “other,” I want to hear from you. Your stories deserve space. Your voice deserves to be heard. Suspicious by Default

The second episode of Deliver U.S. from Dehumanization tells the story of a young Guatemalan boy who was detained for nothing more than standing outside a motel, talking on the phone with his mother. His case reflects a painful reality—how stereotyping, fear, and bias can lead to injustice and cause irreversible harm. This episode examines our justice system and the ways personal biases can shape outcomes, even leading to the wrongful criminalization of a teenager with his entire life ahead of him. How does a 19-year-old recover from that kind of trauma? How many others never get the chance? If you’ve been impacted by deportation, detention, or the constant fear of being seen as “other,” I want to hear from you. Your stories deserve space. Your voice deserves to be heard.
