Over Sex & Magic & Doris Fish

Artist Robyn Adams shares thoughts about the meaning of her new podcast "Sex & Magic & Doris Fish", LGBT history and life as a trans woman in recovery. Episode One debuts Tuesday, Nov 19 when Robyn shares a little about her personal connection to Doris Fish and the Sluts A Go-Go, plans for the DorisFish.com archive and the Kickstarter to fund a line of Doris Fish Mego-style 8 inch dolls, followed by a reading from Craig Seligman's "Who Does That Bitch Think She IS? Doris Fish and the Rise of Drag", and an interview with Pearl Harbour about her history with the great San Francisco drag queen Doris Fish beginning with the 1976 Tube's Talent Hunt audition and ending with Doris' death from AIDS in 1991.  The video version will be on YouTube and will include the never-before-published video of Doris Fish's Tubes audition.

Doris Fish Forever Podcast: Ep 01: Pearl Harbour on Doris Fish 1976 San Francisco Tubes Talent Hunt

The first episode of the Doris Fish Forever podcast features an interview with singer Pearl Harbour (pearlharbourmusic.com) about her early days in San Francisco with drag queen Doris Fish and Jane Dornacker playing with the Tubes, and shares memories of her relationship with Doris and Tippi until the end of their lives in 1991. Visit dorisfish.com to view the Tubes video and a video version of this interview. Doris Fish visited San Francisco for the first time in March 1975, and returned for an extended stay in the summer of 1976. That year she entered a talent competition to join the proto-punk rock band The Tubes which was looking for oddball acts to compliment their bizarre shows. Doris auditioned in trashy glamour drag, expertly passing off the dialogue from the lead-in to the Three Degrees song “Maybe” as an improvised comedy routine. She won the audition along with young newcomer Pearl E. Gates and the two became friends as they performed with the Tubes for the next three weeks. Doris assisted Pearl with her makeup and was soon helping other members of the band with theirs. She also became acquainted with performer Jane Dornacker (who would later join the cast of Blonde Sin.). Jane and Pearl went on to form the band Leila and the Snakes, for which Doris occasionally danced and created posters.
