Resentments

What are resentments and how do they affect us? When we relive, rethink and refeel old hurtful interactions over and over, we are building a resentment. From the Latin, resent literally means to rethink and refeel. Have you ever been so angry at someone that you just relived their behavior over and over in your mind, formulating the perfect comeback? That is a resentment. The more we replay it, the more hurtful it becomes. The other person only hurt us once, but we blame them for every time we hurt ourselves by reliving it. Until one day, all we can remember is that we were perfectly behaved and they acosted us. At this point, we have full assumed the victim role and no longer have any power over changing things. We are stuck in a rut, generating resentful, self-damaging energy, and feeling powerless and like a victim. The only way to get out of this rut and move on is to let the sunlight of the spirit into your perception of events. We look at each of our resentments and then allow someone else to tell us what they see. What Are You FOR?

In today's world, we have been taught that we need to fight the darkness, greed, misuse of power, violence and hate, to name just a few. Interestingly enough, we could have also been taught to fight FOR light, generosity, humility, gentleness and love. We could have been, but we weren't, and the fallout from this can be seen all around us. When we stand in opposition to what we DON'T want, our energy is that of destruction. When we stand in support of what we DO want, our energy is that of creation. We tear down when we oppose. We raise up when we support. Both are directed at what we want, but only one allows us to create what we want, instead of destroy what we don't want. Only one empowers our consciousness to focus on the desires of our heart. Consciousness flows where our attention goes. Consciousness doesn't understand want or don't want... it only understands where our attention has been placed. So when we oppose, our attention is on what we don't want, meaning that our consciousness is dutifully working to bring us more of the thing that we are opposed to. However, when we shift to focusing on what we do want, we align with the frequency of our creative power, our consciousness, and the Universe begins to walk alongside us in our support. The choice is yours. What are you FOR?

Error of Execution vs. Error of Intent

So often in our experiences with others, when we are hurt or offended, we make the assumption that the other person intended to hurt us. That it was personal and by design. But as we explore in this podcast, the idea of something being "personal" is an error of intent. It's the idea that the error which caused the pain or offense was purposeful in its intent. When, in all actuality, it is most often an error of execution in which the intent was not to cause pain, but the execution of that intent resulted in pain or offense anyway. When we move from a space of everyone being out to get us as a personal affront, into the space of mistakes being made and forgiveness being extended, we have created an energetic gold mine in which we can grow and change. The Freedom of Forgiveness

Forgiveness is the most powerful gift that we can give ourselves. It's not even about what the other person did. It's about whether or not we want to be free. We cannot hold another person in bondage and expect to be free ourselves. Whatever it is, when we forgive, we are not approving of or even accepting what happened. We are simply choosing freedom for ourselves, because the only person who suffers from our unforgiveness is us. We keep reliving what happened over and over. Each time we hurt ourselves by reliving it, we blame the person who only hurt us once. And the resentment grows and grows until we can no longer feel the warmth of the sunlight of the spirit. Moving into the light again is a choice that only we can make. Nothing the other person can do will ever free us. Ultimately it comes down to one simple question: would you rather be right or happy? Speculation is the process of forming an opinion about something without a great deal of proof or info. It's called stock speculation because no one can be absolutely sure how the market will perform. It's the same for the future. We just don't know. So since it's all speculation anyway, what would happen if you made the choice to speculate in your favor? What would happen if you speculated that you'll be wildly successful, instead of a failure? Or that all your needs will be met, instead of being homeless and broke? Or that your value is instrinsic and beyond question, instead of you being worthless? It really is all speculation anyway.
