Ep. 79: Talking about Inspired Grief with author Vicki Goodman

Episode 79 of Coffee and Contemplation with Susan Dunlop hosted guest Vicki Paris Goodman, an acclaimed author and former mechanical engineer who has transformed her personal grief into a powerful message of hope and optimism. Her book, 'To Sam, With Love: A Surviving Spouse's Story of Inspired Grief', chronicles her journey since the death of her beloved husband, Sam, and the unexpected positivity and guidance she received during her mourning. With a background in journalism and a passion for music, Vicki now resides in Prescott, Arizona, where she continues to write and inspire others. I have experienced grief in my own life, as have many close friends and family members. We also had the pleasure of hearing from Victoria Wilson-Crane, author of Sixteen Days, in an earlier podcast episode. Please note that the thoughts, beliefs, and perspectives shared by every guest, including Vicki's in this episode, reflect their personal journey. For Vicki, that journey is one of grief and healing. This conversation offers an interesting point of view that may or may not resonate with others who are walking their path forward after the passing of a loved one. Thus, I felt it would be respectful to state this, given each individual’s unique journey and circumstances. Please listen if you wish, if it might help you, and we hope you find value in the discussion. Vicki is currently working on her second book, Speed Bumps and Other Impediments to Life in the Fast Lane, which offers a humorous yet insightful look at life's trials from the perspective of a type A personality.

Ep. 78: Integrating Parts Work in Leadership with Brinn Langdale

Join me this week on 'Coffee and Contemplation with Susan Dunlop' talking with guest, Brinn Langdale, LMFT. Brinn is a licensed holistic psychotherapist, coach, leadership mentor, and soon-to-be author who lives in North Carolina. Brinn refers to the way she operated in her teen years as being 'the poster child for trauma'. In her college years, prompted by a loved one, she dove in deep to make positive and lasting changes in her life. After experiencing an 8-day leadership program, Brinn has gone on to develop a practice as a licensed wholistic psychotherapist and coach, and is a voluntary leadership mentor with the same organisation she found helped her so much. Today's conversation is about professional empowerment and how her techniques, like EFT tapping and parts work, can be utilised for personal and leadership development. Brinn makes the concept of the inner child and inner critic and their roles in the imposter syndrome interesting and easy to see! She also shares practical self-development and self-care tools to enhance resilience, leadership, and mental wellness. This conversation is packed with actionable insights, perfect for leaders looking to address imposter syndrome.
