AI Ethics, Fire TV & Hearing Colour Through Music

Explore the complex debate on social media responsibility, AI misuse, and online safety in 2026 with Steven Scott and Shaun Preece. From the UK government’s possible X ban to the moral crisis of AI-generated content, this episode cuts through the noise with honesty and insight. Steven Scott and Shaun Preece return with a New Year’s Double Tap Extra, diving straight into the heated discussion surrounding X (formerly Twitter), its AI tool Grok, and the alarming rise of AI-generated indecent images. The pair debate the erosion of online decency, the role of government regulation, and whether social media platforms should be held accountable for crimes committed using their tools.   They also reflect on society’s growing desensitisation to tragedy, the viral culture of filming disasters, and the blurred line between human curiosity and apathy. On a lighter note, the hosts share an unexpected appreciation for the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max and its accessibility features, comparing it to the Apple TV experience, and discuss the potential of Android’s Gemini AI assistant versus Siri.   The episode closes with an exclusive interview with Marshall Walters, creator of Sonify, an innovative app that turns colours into music, exploring the fascinating world of sensory substitution and neuroplasticity. episode RNIB’s Personal Transcription Service: What the New Model Means for Blind Users cover

RNIB’s Personal Transcription Service: What the New Model Means for Blind Users

RNIB’s personal transcription service has been at the heart of accessibility for blind people in the UK for decades. In this episode, we explore RNIB’s final decision on the future of this service, why Braille users campaigned to save it, and what the changes mean for independence and access in 2025. In March of 2025, RNIB quietly changed its personal transcription service, which had long provided Braille, audio, large print, and tactile materials for free or at low cost. The move sparked outcry from the blind community, with campaigner Connor Scott-Gardner launching a petition to reverse the decision. Users highlighted how the service underpinned everyday independence, from accessing wedding invitations and music scores to rare books not available in accessible formats.   After months of consultation, RNIB has announced a new model: specialist Braille music transcription will return in-house and remain free, while general transcription will be outsourced to an external provider. In this episode, Steven Scott and Shaun Preece speak with Matthew Horspool, Tim Dixon, and long-time braille user Grace to unpack the decision, examine quality concerns, and consider if this truly reflects RNIB’s commitment to Braille users. Liker at det er både Podcaster (godt utvalg) og lydbøker i samme app, pluss at man kan holde Podcaster og lydbøker atskilt i biblioteket.
Bra app. Oversiktlig og ryddig. MYE bra innhold⭐️⭐️⭐️
