Imam Hamzah Abdul-Malik is a graduate of Al-Azhar University in Egypt and has dedicated over 15 years to the study and teaching of Islam. He memorized the Holy Qur’an early in his journey and has since taught in Islamic schools and mosques across the United States, including in Georgia, Ohio, South Dakota, and Tennessee, as well as in parts of the Middle East. His extensive educational background also includes a Master’s degree in Islamic Studies and Leadership from Bayan Claremont. Imam Hamzah is deeply committed to grassroots community development. In 2015, he co-founded Midtown Mosque in Memphis, Tennessee, as part of a broader effort to revitalize neglected neighborhoods through spiritual and social engagement. Two years later, in 2017, he founded Miraaj Academy, a unique initiative aimed at empowering Muslim American youth by combining Qur’an education with leadership training and character development. His teaching style emphasizes experiential learning, encouraging students not just to study concepts but to internalize and live them. This practical and reflective approach has made him a trusted educator and leader. He is also known for his role in reciting Qur’an at the 2016 funeral of Muhammad Ali, a moment that brought his voice and message to a global audience. Through his scholarship, leadership, and community work, Imam Hamzah Abdul-Malik continues to influence the spiritual and intellectual growth of Muslims in America.
