episode 02. How to Escape the Perfection Trap with Thomas Curran cover

02. How to Escape the Perfection Trap with Thomas Curran

In this episode, Thomas Curran and I delve into the complexities of perfectionism, exploring why it happens, it’s societal implications, and what we can do to curtail it’s sometimes devastating effects. We discuss how perfectionism has evolved in modern society, particularly in relation to work culture and mental health. The conversation highlights the multi-dimensional nature of perfectionism, including self-oriented, socially prescribed, and other-oriented perfectionism. Strategies for overcoming perfectionism, such as breathwork and exposure therapy, are also discussed, along with the importance of self-acceptance and the need to balance growth with present-moment awareness. About Thomas Curran: Dr Thomas Curran is the world’s leading expert on perfectionism, author of the best-selling book The Perfection Trap, and acclaimed Associate Professor of Psychology at The London School of Economics and Political Science. His TED Talk on perfectionism received over three million views, he has written for major international publications such as TIME magazine and the Harvard Business Review, and his work has been featured in the BBC, New Scientist, New York Times, CNN, and Wall Street Journal. Through extensive research, public speaking, consulting services, and academic instruction, Dr. Curran is not just participating in but leading the global conversation on perfectionism. His mission is clear: to uncover the root of perfectionism, its effects on us, the reasons for its rise, and most importantly, what we can do to stop it. As a self-proclaimed perfectionist, Dr. Curran challenges the modern-day imperative to do more and have more and instead offers realism, teaching us that the unrelenting treadmill of perfectionism is exhausting, compromising our mental health, impacting our relationships, and blocking progress toward our goals. Liker at det er både Podcaster (godt utvalg) og lydbøker i samme app, pluss at man kan holde Podcaster og lydbøker atskilt i biblioteket.
Bra app. Oversiktlig og ryddig. MYE bra innhold⭐️⭐️⭐️
