Khalid Yahya Blankinship is a prominent American scholar of Islamic history and a respected academic in the field of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies. With a deep commitment to the study of early Islamic civilization, his work focuses on the formative centuries of Islamic history, particularly the political, religious, and military developments during the Umayyad and Abbasid periods. He earned his Ph.D. in History from the University of Washington, where he specialized in the early Islamic caliphate. Prior to that, he studied at Columbia University and the American University in Cairo, gaining a strong foundation in Arabic language, Islamic jurisprudence, and classical sources. His interdisciplinary training and first-hand immersion in the Arab world have shaped a scholarly approach that is both rigorous and deeply contextualized. Blankinship is currently a professor in the Department of Religion at Temple University in Philadelphia, where he teaches courses on Islamic history, Sufism, and Islamic civilization. He is widely recognized for his scholarly contributions, especially in translating and analyzing early Islamic texts. One of his most influential works is *The End of the Jihâd State: The Reign of Hishām ibn ‘Abd al-Malik and the Collapse of the Umayyads*, which presents a detailed examination of the decline of the Umayyad Caliphate through a critical lens. Another key publication is his translation of *The History of al-Ṭabarī, Volume 11: The Challenge to the Empires*, an authoritative source in Islamic historiography that he rendered into accessible English with scholarly annotations. His work is characterized by a balanced engagement with both traditional Islamic scholarship and modern critical methodologies. He is respected in both Western academic circles and among scholars of the Muslim world for his nuanced understanding and fair treatment of Islamic history. In addition to his academic research and teaching, Khalid Yahya Blankinship has participated in public lectures, interfaith discussions, and educational programs aimed at increasing awareness of Islamic heritage and its relevance to contemporary issues. Through his decades of scholarship, teaching, and translation, Khalid Yahya Blankinship has significantly contributed to the understanding of Islam’s early development, making complex historical narratives accessible to both academic audiences and the general public.

Liker at det er både Podcaster (godt utvalg) og lydbøker i samme app, pluss at man kan holde Podcaster og lydbøker atskilt i biblioteket.
Bra app. Oversiktlig og ryddig. MYE bra innhold⭐️⭐️⭐️
