episode Vampiric Kisses with Diego Ramirez cover

Vampiric Kisses with Diego Ramirez

Diego Ramirez makes art in different mediums, writes about culture, and labours in the arts. His video work was subject to a joint solo screening by ACCA x ACMI titled Diego Ramirez: Towards the Umbral, curated by Annabelle Lacroix in 2018. The next year, he presented The Horrible Affair between a Sadistic Image and a Masochistic Text at West Space as part of WRITING&CONCEPTS, a lecture on the relationship between his art and writing. He performed in Lifenessless at West Space x Gertrude Contemporary in 2019, as part of Ventriloquy curated by Joel Stern. His work has been represented in art fairs, such as Art Central Hong Kong and Sydney Contemporary. He held a solo show in Mexico titled IMPERI❍: el borde de las tinieblas at Deslave, Tijiuana in 2018. In today's episode, Molly chats to artist and pal Diego Ramirez about vampires, gothic anxieties, 70's satanic cults and the theology of kissing *ooo*! Diego will be discussing with us how this has not only influenced western consciousness, capitalism and religion, but has shaped the creation of his resin black bitten apple. [https://www.quiveringinquarantine.com/volume-i?lightbox=dataItem-k89web4n]Throughout this podcast, we will be critiquing and analysing the use of CGI in B grade horror films, such as in Ghostbusters (1984), Rosemary's Baby (1968), Brainiac (1958) and Transformers (1980), as well as discuss how miracles operate as index's, special effects and manifestations of the divine in these films.  We will be drawing upon Lindsay Ellis's film critiques as well as lightly touch upon Sianne Ngai's Ugly Feelings to compliment this.  We hope you love this podcast as much as we do!!! Enjoy possums <3

episode Bottles of Blood and Fingernails with Linsey Gosper cover

Bottles of Blood and Fingernails with Linsey Gosper

***DISCLAIMER*** - Discussions surrounding the use of animal corpses are present in this podcast. In today's episode, Molly talks with artist, curator and art educator Linsey Gosper under Melbourne's newly enforced Stage 4 restrictions. Linsey showcased a selection of c-type prints in Quivering in Quarantine's Volume III; Limbs, Locusts and Lavender. They discuss all things Magickal, such as Spell-work, Tarot, Wiccan Witchcraft and Herbalism within a Western framework. They also dissect Alejandro Jodorowsky's The Way of Tarot: The Spiritual Teacher in the Cards, Cassandra Eason's A Complete Guide to Magick Ritual and The Picatrix. ***Iona sadly couldn't be present in this podcast but helped forge these questions for Linsey :)*** Linsey Gosper is an artist, curator and art educator based in Naarm / Melbourne. Working predominantly with photography and installation, she is continuing her experimentation with the materiality of the photographic medium through darkroom processes. Linsey’s interests lie in the Occult - she has an active ritual practice. This informs her work as an area of research, experimentation and documentation, as she incorporates various magickal techniques in the making of her artwork, using photography as a visual representation of her ritual praxis and as a magikal act in itself.

episode Unpacking Caitlin Royce's Cosmic Lunchbox cover

Unpacking Caitlin Royce's Cosmic Lunchbox

This morning Molly will be talking to artist, angel and galpal Caitlin Royce over a cuppa coffee in her pj's and dressing gown about all things witchy woo-woo! We will be unpacking and exploring the symbiosis of matter and energy, the power humans project onto material and object, time as a felt experience and/or realm as opposed to a form of measurement, as well as metaphysical healing and meditation through video. We will be delving into energy coding, crystals, psychedelic culture, bacteria, and of course, the botanical and 70's art deco. Of course, Caitlin and Molly are in fact good friends, so the conversation will occasionally derail into discussing face masks, toothpaste on pimples and Cher (who's complaining) as well as some great books we like to read (we're book worms). We hope you love this podcast as much as we do! Caitlin Royce is an artist based on Dja Dja Wurrung country. Her practice explores the potential for energy in the material realm through assemblages that sit in the periphery of painting and sculpture. At the beginning of COVID lockdown, she was making digital video works that investigate the shifts in the felt experience of time. *PS: Great news people - as humble lil butterflies, we are slowly getting better at using Anchor and Audition, so it's not nearly as glitchy! Woohoo!

episode Satan, Seeds and Scarecrows with Phoebe Beard cover

Satan, Seeds and Scarecrows with Phoebe Beard

In today's episode we will be discussing Satan, Seeds, Scarecrows (and everything in between!) with angel, artist and curator Phoebe Beard! Phoebe examines symbols and systems of power, specifically associated with cultivation and community. Scarecrows synonymous with agricultural landscapes reinforce power touted by human beings, upholding romantic and religious folklore. By discussing communal and cultural associations of wheat through drawing, printmaking, sculpture and film, Phoebe questions contemporary methods of food production. ***Please keep in mind, Molly and Iona are humble little munchkins still trying to learn how to grasp the mythical app that is ‘Anchor’ and ‘Adobe Audition’, so we are not actually talking over at each other at points, the crazy world of technology is doing so! Please do excuse the occasional glitching and overflooding of voices, we are still learning pumpkins in the process ! We hope you find this platform as informative and educational as we do!***

episode Re-fleshing Hauntology with Katie Paine cover

Re-fleshing Hauntology with Katie Paine

Hauntology, Romanticism, the transcendence of hypothetical pain and the rejection of the stereotypical ‘ghost’ is re-fleshed in our interview with the intelligent artist and writer, Katie Paine.  In this episode, we will be dissecting Katie’s 'A gift from my beloved that was not asked for, but that was welcome' in reference to Shrek, the ‘other,’ love and the diffusing of idealistic binaries.  ***Please keep in mind, Molly and Iona are humble little munchkins still trying to learn how to grasp the mythical app that is ‘Anchor’ and ‘Adobe Audition’, so we are not actually talking over at each other at points, the crazy world of technology is doing so! Liker at det er både Podcaster (godt utvalg) og lydbøker i samme app, pluss at man kan holde Podcaster og lydbøker atskilt i biblioteket.
