Rania al‑Abdullah is the Queen consort of Jordan and a globally respected advocate for education, health, youth empowerment, and cross-cultural dialogue. Born Rania al‑Yassin in Kuwait on August 31, 1970, she graduated from the American University in Cairo with a degree in Business Administration in 1991. She began her career in banking and IT before marrying Prince Abdullah in 1993. When he ascended the throne in 1999, she became queen. Since then, Rania has championed initiatives to reform education, support teachers, and improve public health. She founded and chairs several key institutions, including the Jordan River Foundation and the Queen Rania Teacher Academy. Her global influence extends beyond Jordan. She has served as a UNICEF Advocate for Children and as Honorary Chair of the UN Girls’ Education Initiative. Through her work, Rania promotes interfaith understanding, women’s rights, and social entrepreneurship. She also launched international campaigns such as “1GOAL: Education for All” and helped Arab youth gain a global voice. Rania is also an author of bestselling children’s books—*The Sandwich Swap*, *The King’s Gift*, *Eternal Beauty*, and *Maha of the Mountains*. These works reflect her commitment to cultural understanding, kindness, and children’s wellbeing. Known for her approachable yet powerful voice, Rania continues to use her position to drive social change and promote a vision of compassion and opportunity on a global scale.
