This week Richard and Marc swap controversy for celebration as they discuss one of the highlights of the grassroots football calendar – Presentation Day. 🏆 Should every player receive an award? 🎖️ Do participation trophies still have a place in football? 👏 How do clubs properly recognise the volunteers, coaches, referees and committee members who make football happen every week? And then there's the matter of the merch... 👕 Half Time Oranges hoodies, t-shirts and more seem to be appearing everywhere. Is this a carefully crafted marketing strategy or have the lads simply got carried away? But perhaps the biggest shock of all... Rumour has it that Marc became emotional during the episode and, in a rare slip, revealed that he is actually human after all. Listeners will have to decide for themselves whether this was a genuine moment or simply the effects of too many presentation evenings and end-of-season speeches! 😢🍊 In another unexpected development, Marc also manages to get through most of the episode without talking about referees. We say "most" because there are limits to what can reasonably be expected. 🎙️ The Half Time Oranges is BACK! With the season nearly wrapped up, the lads have somehow managed to get another recording over the line… and there’s plenty to unpack this week. 🍊⚽ Marc once again found himself right in the middle of the action for a Cup Final… then just a few hours later was running the line for another. Safe to say, he’s not overly thrilled about certain parents booing officials during a medal presentation, and he doesn’t hold back on the club responsible. Richard was representing the Committee at the club’s U16 Cup Final the day before, where the behaviour and support shown by one side unfortunately let the occasion down. There’s also a chat around the rise of 3v3 football, the funding available for clubs looking to get goals and festivals up and running, plus with the World Cup just around the corner, the lads discuss the upcoming Grassroots World Cup Special. 🌍🏆 And before anyone asks… no, your screens are not broken — Marc really was THAT red. It was a warm one out on the pitch. ☀️🥵
