Ep29. Gone Without a Trace: The Perplexing Case of Clinton Nelson Pt. 3

In this episode of “Extinguished,” hosts LaDonna Humphrey and David McClam meticulously examine the disappearance of Clinton Nelson, who vanished under enigmatic circumstances in Princeton, Louisiana, on September 1, 2006. Clinton, aged 21, was last observed walking home from a party around midnight. Despite exhaustive searches conducted by law enforcement and his family, no substantial leads have surfaced, plunging his loved ones into profound uncertainty and grief. The discussion scrutinizes potential drug-related factors and emphasizes a stringent Louisiana statute that enforces severe penalties for those supplying drugs that result in death. This law may inadvertently deter individuals from disclosing information due to the fear of legal consequences, thereby stalling investigations by fostering a climate of fear within the drug community and perpetuating unresolved cases. The dialogue proposes various measures to incentivize the sharing of information, including the provision of immunity or reduced sentences, and the establishment of trust through harm reduction initiatives. It underscores the critical role of support and advocacy for families of missing persons, highlighting the significance of organizations that assist in navigating the legal landscape and enhancing public awareness. The utilization of anonymous tip lines is suggested as a method to gather information without imposing legal ramifications. The narrative emphasizes the relentless efforts of Clinton’s mother, Carolyn, who has been an unwavering advocate for her son since his disappearance. It stresses the paramount importance of public awareness and collective support in resolving such cases, urging anyone with pertinent information to contact the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office or reputable advocacy organizations, as even minor tips could prove to be pivotal. David McClam and LaDonna Humphrey present the case of Clinton Devon Nelson, who mysteriously disappeared in 2006 after stepping outside a party in Princeton, Louisiana to smoke. Despite injuries from a recent work accident and lacking transportation or financial resources, Nelson vanished under suspicious circumstances. His last phone activity indicated paranoia likely induced by drug use, and he had a history of substance abuse, including a recent arrest for drug possession. The house where he was last seen had sophisticated surveillance equipment, raising questions about what was recorded and potential foul play. The neighborhood’s reputation and presence of drug dealers add to the suspicions. Various theories about Nelson’s fate include abduction, murder, accidental death, or a drug overdose. The narrative also mentions unreported incidents due to fear, hinting at possible foul play involving significant money Nelson had that night.  If you have any information on the dissaperence of Clinton Nelson Bossier parish sheriff office 318- 965-2203 318 424 4100 Bossier Crime Stoppers 318-424-4100 Time Line 00:00 Introduction and Recap 01:00 The Bizarre Circumstances of Clinton's Disappearance 02:22 Speculations and Theories 06:43 The Most Likely Scenario: Accidental Drug Overdose 09:33 The Last Contact and Unanswered Questions 10:01 Closing Remarks and Future Episodes Check out our other podcast Deep Dark Secrets [https://www.deepdarksecretspodcast.com/episodes] With LaDonna Humphrey and Amy Smith https://www.truecrimeandauthors.com/episodes/True Crime, Authors and Extraodinary People [https://www.truecrimeandauthors.com/episodes/]with David McClam DON'T FORGET TO RATE, COMMENT AND SUBSCRIBE JOIN US ON FACEBOOK [https://www.facebook.com/extinguishedpodcast] Sound Mixing and editing by David McClam Intro and outro byJacqueline G. Ep27. Gone Without a Trace: The Perplexing Case of Clinton Nelson Pt. 1

We delve into the mysterious disappearance of Clinton Devon Nelson in September 2006, a young man from Nebraska who went missing after trying to reconnect with his biological father in Louisiana. Despite a hopeful beginning, including a job offer and plans to live with his father, Clinton’s story took a dark turn when he vanished following an encounter at a friend’s house, where his stepfather Jeff last saw him peering through blinds. Clinton had a history that included a drug possession charge and an outstanding arrest warrant for missing a court date, but his sudden disappearance left many unanswered questions. His family firmly believed he wouldn’t have left voluntarily, especially since he was excited about upcoming fatherhood and left behind his paycheck. Investigations revealed drug activity at the friend’s house Clinton visited, linking it to methamphetamine distribution, and suggested Clinton might have been using heavy narcotics, possibly leading to paranoia and erratic behavior. Despite extensive searches and theories ranging from voluntary departure to drug-induced disorientation or even foul play, Clinton’s fate remains unknown. LaDonna along with Amy Smith, participated in search efforts and are working on a documentary to bring attention to Clinton’s case, hoping for closure and justice. They encourage listeners to provide any information to authorities. Ep25. In Pursuit of Truth for Deanna Stevison's Unsolved Murder Pt. 5

In this episode, the hosts conclude their discussion on the Deanna Stevenson murder trial with special guest Kiah from the Stand Our Ground podcast. They focus on the former employment of one of the women involved in the case and her relationship with the lead investigator. They question why the lead investigator did not recuse himself and why the sheriff's office did not let the local police department handle the case. They also discuss the corruption in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties and the questionable decisions made by the sheriff's office. The hosts express their concerns about the stand your ground claim in Deanna's case and the gunshot pattern that suggests she was running away. They also mention the possibility that Megan and Amy were aware that Deanna would be out with friends and drinking before inviting her over. In this part of the conversation, the hosts and Kiah discuss the evidence surrounding the letters and the theory that Deanna was going to pick up a letter on the night she was killed. They explore the text messages and emails between Deanna and Megan, as well as the overheard conversation between Amy and Megan about Deanna going for Megan's purse. They also discuss the possibility that the events of that night were a setup and express frustration with the lack of proper investigation. Kiah shares her feelings of uncertainty and the difficulty of not having closure. The hosts express their dedication to the case and their determination to seek justice for Deanna.
