After an unintended break, Diggy is back with a run of stories that escalate quickly. There’s a school-day stomach ache that turns into three days off thanks to a baffling sickness policy, a brutal bout of COVID, and a delivered breakfast sandwich that contains all the right ingredients in entirely the wrong order. Then it’s Christmas Day. A late start, chaotic family logistics, relentless cups of tea, dropped roast potatoes, burnt Yorkshire puddings, and a Christmas dinner that finally happens far later than intended and is deeply unsatisfying. After all that, Diggy makes a big announcement: episode 100 will be the final episode of That’s a Free Bee. The show was always an experiment, and it worked, but rigid schedules didn’t. So rather than force it, the podcast is ending cleanly and making way for something more flexible. That new show is Hey It’s Diggy. Short, ad-hoc episodes released whenever there’s something worth saying. No fixed length. No fixed schedule. The first episode is already live. Plus subscribers haven’t been forgotten. Payments were paused, subscriptions will be cancelled properly, and all previous Plus content will be unlocked and made free. COVID, Costa & Six Fried Eggs

This week on “That’s a Free Bee”, Diggy crawls out of the COVID pit, still slightly croaky, but powered by caffeine, sarcasm, and a deep distrust of eggs. After an unplanned week off thanks to a particularly grim round of COVID, there is a catch up on being completely bedbound, surprise lab swabs at the doctor, and trying to keep the whole “go to the gym and not fall apart” plan vaguely on track. Weight loss is happening, motivation is wobbling, and the scales are apparently doing performance art.

This week, we're diving into our recent family holiday to Salou, Spain, which turned out to be quite the adventure. I’m here to share all the ups and downs, from the kids’ surprisingly smooth flight experience to the chaotic airport transfers that had us running for our lives. We’ll also talk about the hilariously anticlimactic moment when I discovered that my metal detector surgery didn’t set off any alarms—talk about a letdown! Spectators Gone Wild!

This week, I give my annual rant about the chaos surrounding the Manchester half marathon, but this time, my focus shifts to the runners' families. Honestly, it's not the runners that drive me up the wall—it's their families who seem to have no sense of timing or tram etiquette! Picture this: a tram platform packed with families, all converging at the exact moment, prams in tow, and the poor tram driver having to play referee between a pram and a wheelchair. I mean, who needs a pram for a five-year-old when it’s just carrying bags? It’s pure madness! As I navigate through this tram debacle, I also share my own running journey, having signed up for a 10k, which I’m already regretting, and I promise to keep you updated on my training—or lack thereof!
