Adam's Daily Bread
This is part of a year long reading of the Bible chronologically in a harmonized format. 1 Samuel 21:1 - 24:22 - David flees Saul, lies to priest Ahimelech at Nob for holy bread and Goliath's sword, then escapes to Gath where he feigns madness to survive. - Saul massacres Nob's priests after learning of David's aid; David gathers followers in distress, spares Saul in a cave, and continues evading pursuit. Mark 14:12-16 - On Passover preparation day, Jesus sends two disciples into the city to follow a man with a water jar to a furnished upper room. - The disciples find everything exactly as Jesus described and prepare the Passover meal there. Luke 22:7-13 - Jesus instructs Peter and John to prepare Passover in Jerusalem, directing them to a man carrying water who leads to a ready upper room. - They locate the room precisely as told and make all arrangements for the meal. Matthew 26:20 - When evening arrives, Jesus reclines at the table with the twelve disciples for the Passover meal. Mark 14:17 - In the evening, Jesus arrives at the house with the twelve disciples for the Passover supper. Luke 22:14-16 - At the hour for the meal, Jesus and the apostles recline at table as he expresses his deep desire to share this Passover before his suffering. - He declares he will not eat it again until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God. Luke 22:24-30 - The disciples argue over who is greatest; Jesus teaches that true leadership means serving like the youngest, following his own example. - He promises the faithful apostles thrones to judge Israel's tribes in his coming kingdom.
