Older Women Do This, So You Can Teach That (Titus 2:4-5)
What does a life shaped by sound doctrine look like for women in the church?
In this verse-by-verse Bible study of Titus 2:3–5, Paul continues his instructions for church life by turning to older and younger women. Just like with the men, the emphasis is clear: healthy doctrine must produce visible, practical holiness in everyday life.
In this episode, we explore God’s design for women in the church, the importance of spiritual mentorship, and how doctrine shapes family, character, and conduct.
In this episode, you’ll learn:
* What it means to live “in behavior as becometh holiness”
* How outward conduct reflects inward spiritual reality
* Why gossip, slander, and uncontrolled speech are serious concerns
* The meaning of being “teachers of good things”
* The biblical role of older women in discipling younger women
* Why spiritual mentorship is a vital part of church life
* What younger women are called to learn in Titus 2
* The importance of self-control, purity, and sound judgment
* What it means to love husbands and children biblically
* The role of kindness, home life, and faithful responsibility
* What Paul means by “that the word of God be not blasphemed”
* How personal conduct reflects the credibility of the gospel
Paul teaches that older women are not passive members of the church—they are active disciplers, shaping the next generation through wisdom, example, and intentional teaching. Their lives become a living testimony of what sound doctrine produces over time.
Younger women, likewise, are called to learn, grow, and live in ways that reflect godliness in their homes, relationships, and daily responsibilities. The goal is not cultural conformity, but Christlike character shaped by truth.
At the center of this passage is a serious reminder: when believers claim the gospel with their lips but deny it with their lives, the reputation of God’s Word is harmed. But when doctrine and life align, the gospel is adorned with beauty and credibility.
