Beskrivelse

In Episode 15, our final Episode in Season 2, of "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ", several team members gather to discuss and dialogue about the subject of “Generosity and Overflow”. While our culture teaches us ways to earn money, as well as techniques to save money, rarely are we trained in how to give money away and invest it beyond our personal gain. Interestingly, of all the subjects the Bible speaks to, the subject of money is covered more than any other. So, why is this? Because God knows us and what we’re like. He knows our hearts are easily wrapped up in our concerns over money. Practically, He also knows we need to learn it’s proper stewardship and avoid being indebted to lenders. But ultimately, it is because God wants to train our hearts to live generously and from a place of overflow into others’ lives. Our team talks about all these issues – sharing challenges, stories, insights, and encouragements with one other – and we hope you, our listeners, will find today’s episode to be a blessing to you, also! episode Humility Leads Brand: A Key to Christian Entrepreneurship | "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ" cover

Humility Leads Brand: A Key to Christian Entrepreneurship | "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ"

In Episode 7 of Season 3 in "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ", we continue in our series covering “Christian Entrepreneurship”, covering the intersection between building a healthy brand with the importance of Christian humility. Often, the thought of branding and humility don’t mix, but cultivating integrity in a brand that puts humility in front is what a Christian company is called to. As Christians, we are called to both cultivate industry and demonstrate humility. The team begins by discussing the challenge and necessity of building a brand, and how to go about it successfully. We also speak on how legacy brands can often lose their way, which leads us to discuss several pitfalls to avoid. The team then takes time speaking about the brand of C.A.R., and the effort we’ve given to forging a brand we believe possesses both successful industry and Christ-like humility. Finally, we speak about how to keep humility in the front as you forge a brand that keeps people, products, and profit on equal footing. We reflect on God’s timing to build up a company, about how He pays in His Kingdom, and how humility not only helps build a successful brand but protects it as well. episode Bold & Fearless: The Symbol of the Buffalo | "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ" cover

Bold & Fearless: The Symbol of the Buffalo | "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ"

As we continue in Season 3 of "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ", our team talks about an important symbol of boldness and fearlessness, which has inspired our company – that of the Buffalo (or American Bison). Throughout C.A.R.’s history, the buffalo has been an important symbol for us in how to face challenge and adversity, for buffaloes have a well-documented instinct to run directly into storms rather than flee from them. Their behavior is a survival strategy: when severe weather approaches, they reorient themselves to face oncoming weather, as a deliberate, coordinated movement into the storm’s path. The team opens by discussing how the buffalo’s boldness and fearlessness are qualities necessary to endure life’s storms, then moves to how this relates to spiritual life, particularly how the buffalo’s front-facing strategy is both safer and faster. It’s safer, because its front side is a thick coat of hair (like a shield), while its hide has the least protection. It’s faster, because moving through the storm is always quicker than trying to outrun or outlast it. Our team finishes by conversing about how Jesus Christ did exactly this for us – He ran into the greatest storm in history (the Cross), where He bore our sin, carried our shame, and extinguished God’s wrath on our behalf, because He loved us. Now, He calls us into the storm, to follow Him through it, but we can trust Him because He’s leading His herd! If our channel is an encouragement to you, please like and subscribe! episode Getting Wisdom in a Digital Age | C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ cover

Getting Wisdom in a Digital Age | C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ

In our 5th Episode in Season 3 of "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ", our team engages the topic of “Getting Wisdom in a Digital Age.” With knowledge more available now than ever, with the simple click of our mouse, or touch on our computer or phone, we can access as much information as we want, anywhere and anytime. But is this helpful, or harmful, when it comes to making us wise? In the first half of the discussion, our team talks about the difference between true knowledge (facts) versus opinion (theory) and false information. They also unpack the difference between being informed (knowledge) and being transformed, which comes by practicing truth in the fear of God (true wisdom). True wisdom is about humility before God, fearing God (reverence and awe), and following God (truth in action). In the final half of our discussion, the C.A.R. Team reflects on how worldly wisdom is the natural default for us all, and that God’s wisdom (and ultimate plan), most dramatically revealed in Jesus Christ, upends the ways we think are wise. Essentially, “what works” doesn’t cut it for God, and isn’t sufficient for how we often “do church”. Instead, we must be regularly open to His leadership by hearing from Him in His Word (the Bible), listening and praying over it (until we’re heard it), and then obeying God once we have. episode Resolving Conflict: Core Values Series | "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ" cover

Resolving Conflict: Core Values Series | "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ"

In Episode 4 in Season 3 of "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ", our team continues our “Core Values” series, building upon our initial talk of “Growth as a Mindset”, and moves ahead to the challenge, but importance, of “Resolving Conflict”. In relationships, whether at work or home, often, we find ourselves at odds and in conflict with others. So, how should we go about resolving this? Avoidance? Addressing it immediately? Being passive-aggressive? Often, we all resort to less than ideal, even unhealthy patterns in attempts to deal with conflict. Following a helpful discussion about overcoming the unhealthy patterns mentioned above, the team talks about how to discern the difference between one’s preferences and sins, or moral offenses committed against others. In our preferences, and if possible, even when sin occurs, we are encouraged by God to “let love cover” them. However, with sin, this is not always possible. For when there is serious error, or a pattern of behavior that requires resolution, God provides a path, rather than a quick fix, to resolve the conflict. The C.A.R. Team concludes by reflecting on how Jesus teaches us the path to “Resolving Conflict”, which is a step-by-step process aimed at forgiveness, and where possible, reconciliation. episode Work as a Calling: Faith at Work Series | "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ" cover

Work as a Calling: Faith at Work Series | "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ"

In Episode 3 in Season 3 of "C.A.R.s, Coffee, & Christ", our team continues our “Faith at Work” discussion, building upon our initial talk about the opportunities and challenges of being a Christian employee, to a conversation on “Work as a Calling”. What makes a job different from a career tends to be a matter of longevity, but what makes a career distinct from a calling is more spiritual in nature. Our team discusses how God interweaved His purposes through their various jobs, even careers, to reveal His true calling upon their lives. They also speak to how His greater purpose not only reoriented them to His path but integrated all which occurred in their past to connect to His future for them. After discussing the uniqueness of “Work as a Calling”, the group talks about how to discern what God is ultimately calling you to, and to respond to what is holding you back. Rarely in the Bible do we see God ask people to “keep up what their doing”. Instead, He tends to call us to a radically different purpose, which is always caught up with His plans. Finally, the C.A.R. Team speaks on the primacy of God calling us into relationship with Him, through the person and work of Jesus Christ. His “call” to a personal relationship must be the foundational “calling” upon which the rest of our life (home, marriage, family, work) is built upon, much like a root is related to a tree and fruit.
