There were two changes of the guard at Áras Contae an Chláir on Friday. Corofin Fianna Fáil Councillor Joe Killeen was named the county's new mayor at the annual general meeting of Clare County Council. First elected in 2019, the former INTO president is the second member of his family to wear the chain of office, with his cousin, former Defence Minister Tony Killeen, serving in the role from 1989 to 1991. Separately, Kilmurry Ibrickane Fianna Fáil Councillor Michael Shannon was elected Cathaoirleach of the West Clare Municipal District. Clare FM's Seán Lyons was at council HQ where he first spoke to the new county mayor, Joe Killeen, about his vision for the role. Photo (c) Clare County Council
