Frequent eating leads to insulin resistance, which blocks cells from getting fuel. Diets involving 5 to 6 small meals daily destroy the metabolism the most! An intermittent fasting plan involving 18 hours of fasting with a 6-hour eating window can provide tremendous health benefits, such as weight loss in the midsection, improved mood, and decreased inflammation. A 24 to 48-hour fast can significantly magnify the benefits of fasting. Extended fasting enables you to deplete the stored glycogen in your liver. You may also notice significant initial water weight loss. During a 1 to 2-day fast, most of your fuel will come from ketones.
